  • Hi all, have not read any posts today but love and hugs to all that need it. it is a bit frantic here but OH is on the mend and is even talking about doing some work from home next week!!

The visit from the skids went better than i expected thanks to all of your support on this one. You were right the reality was not as bad as the actuality.

Quite a bit of OS going on here today. Used up leftovers and made bread pud. Made home made Morroccan Chicken for tea with couscous. Used the bones and skin to make stock for soup tomorrow.

    That is all folks.

OH had a phone call from his mum, after OH's sister rang his mum and told her that he'd been trying to get in touch! she said spare set of car keys is hidden (told him the place), she mumbled about him using the car, he said you did offer! She evidently forgot.

Well at least I aint got the hassle now to to fetch him in an evening! I dont mind, but this weeks he's on a later shift, and it puts dinner time back for eating!

Im very tired, so Im hoping that after dinner/bath time, I dont go thru my tired stage and wake up (like I usually do).

My babysitter is selling her PS2 and a few games. the lot for £40, bargain! So that will be an early gift for DD.

Anyway best be off, crack the whip!!!
Have a good night all, Take care
    Love as usual

    Hi everyone,
I've had a great MSE day :j . Was just finishing todays FLC when a friend called for a :coffee: . After lunch went into town by train, only £1 return for me and DD is free cos under 5. Bought a pack of 8 little 'tupperware' type containers for £2 for things like dips etc in packed lunches, stops the family losing my precious avent ones. Picked up some cillit bang in the £1 shop. It's the only thing that has ever cleaned my original 1930s bath. Halloween stuff was being sold off in the 99p shop for 25p each, so bought some stuff to put away.
They've re-opened a bouncy castle, ball pool, soft play area for under 5s in my shopping centre and it's free :D , so called there for a while. On the way back to the train station, walked past Lush and they had an offer, free bar of soap with any purchase, so bought a £1 bath bomb for the kids and got a lovely bar of soap that should have cost £2.48 :money:
  • good evening to you all!!
got up this morning feeling really miserable kids arguing whilst i was in the shower(why have my children got a grudge against me looking nice and clean????) nearly throttled ds1 but i refrained and docked his pocket money instead!! anyway went food shopping at tescos and aldis, took the dog out for along walkthen picked kids up from school, went to asda to get cat and dog food and the most horrible thing happend a car hit a motorcyclist who was on the floor unconcious, sort of puts my miserable mood into perspective eh? anyway called ambulance then lseft my details with police then left dont know how the guy was, rushed away to hospital.
anyway its absoultly freezing here in liverpool tonight had to put the thermostat up on heating argh!! im going to cherish every moment with my lovely family even ds1 aka kevin the teenager!! lol sharron

  • Evening Everyone,

Haven't looked through the thread since lunch time, but will do in a mo.

Just to say walked into the house this evening to a wonderful aroma of Beef and Port Stew in the Slow Cooker. Yay it worked.

Bloke loved it, he had two helpings. So thanks for all your tips.

Bit tired from the early Monday start, but I do get Tuesday afternoons off as a result.

I've got two Readings booked tomorrow afternoon, but can't complain, it's more money in the savings account.

Anyway, gonna go back and read from Page 7. :)

    Hi All
Thought I'd better introduce myself as I have dropped a post or two on here. Been watching the Grabbit and Techie pages for a few weeks, gained quite a few bargains for Xmas, read through some of the others, and had sympathies with many. No debt problems, but love a bargain, or as DS says Mum's "tight", though as we are keeping him at uni, I tell him he's spoilt. He's due to finish in June so has been told load and clear that he is on his own two feet then, he can't wait to start earning properly and be independent. Joined in with the £2 savers and have nearly £100 now, DH doing it with me, but just because he hates those coins!

As for OS, well into various craft work x-stitch, water/acrylic painting, knitting, crocheting, dressmaking when I find the time (rarely) as I work full time. Addicted to this box, so spend my evenings on here while DH watches the box, keeps me plied the coffee though, and saves any arguments about what to watch. I'm doing the family tree, more addictive thant MSE! and that takes some doing. Use the SC a lot, find joints are very tender out of there, and so easy as you just drop them in on High, with no water or anything, and 2-3 hours later they are nearly falling apart, and you can make beautiful gravy with the juices in the bottom. As for housework well not very me, but DH is very tidy and came ready trained (thanks late-MIL who I counted as one of my very best friends).

Planning on early retirement both of us, which is another incentive towards the MSE way.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?

    Hello all!

*Hugs* to all those who need them, esp smokybabe!

Am sitting here with my camp blanket wrapped around me and the heater on as it is blooming freezing! The weather on the way back from the school I'm doing supply at was dire, took me so long to get back!

Stopped at Tesco on the way back but didn't get any good bargains! We have pizza for dinner, with yummy garlic bread slices!

Hen night was fun.... the afternoon tea was fabulous, and we got kicked out of the comedy club we went to, but ended up in a nice bar with not too expensive drinks at all. After a while, we went back to the bride-to-bes place and had more drinks and a bit more of a boogie! Sadly I had to work yesterday afternoon, but I didn't have too much of a hangover!

Got a busy one this week. Am too ill to be at Guides tonight..... soooo exhausted and my right leg, right thumb and left arm keep falling asleep... will have to speak to my GP about that when I go to see him next week!

Right, I'm off to eat and relax!

Good way to use up odds and ends of wool and in a good cause as well...........

Can you give me some more info about this, please? I have wool and fingers that need to be kept busy, and would relish making squares :D;)

    Evening everybody!

This is my first chance to post on MSE today after a hectic day at work. :(

Welcome to OS - donny-gal. You'll find it invaluable and there's always a friendly face around. :)

smokybabe - Hope your husband recovers soon. Best wishes. xx

On a lighter note - I've had an eBay sale tonight which has cheered me up. I need to add up my earnings and savings for the week, as part of my own money-saving diary challenge but I'm too tired to do that just yet:(

Hope tomorrow is a better day for most of us.
