Did you book at Standard rate? If so, you can go ahead and cancel that now - if not and you booked a cheap rate then you simply wont be able to cancel as that's one of their terms. The only thing you could do would be to turn up, see what it's like, and if it's bad then go about getting a refund for not getting what you payed for. The XLS file you mention says your cancellation insurance will only be cover you under one of the following situations; Death, Serious Illness, Injury, Redundancy, Jury Service, Police or Authority Requirement, Armed Forces Requirement, Emergency Services Requirement, Unusable vehicle due to accident, Journey Accident or Breakdown or Epidemic Travel Restriction.Male.

Not good methinks!
ive used travelodge a couple of times and never had any probs, until this wk end. we booked in manchester sport city back in may and paid and had an invoice etc. then last wednesday my boyfriend rang them up to explain that we were going to the coldplay concert near by and wouldnt be able to check in until after, about 11pm. they said it wasnt a problem and check in would be open until 4am
after the concert we had to ring them for directions, but they informed us that they didnt have us on the system and all the rooms were fully booked. we were livid as we were 300 miles away from home.
the only thing they could do was re locate us to oldham which was a extra 5 miles away (45min journey)
i rang them this morning and the manager of sportcity said it was on a first come first serve basis and they always over book themselves. but i would recieve a full refund in 5 days?!
will have to wait and see what happens, but think this is sooo bad of travel lodge to do this, esp if u are going to a gig first.
i'll never be booking with them again anyway0 -
I ve had the same hassle.
We stayed at the travelodge in reading, it was sick, we checked out after 45 mins and stayed at the Penta Hotel for an extra £20 and the rooms were sop much cleaner, nicer, warmer, etc
If i had known about the Penta Hotel i would have booked that in the 1st place.
I have contacted Travelodge 3 times and no reply..0 -
Sorry to hear you have had these problems. We have stayed in Travelodges in the past and although basic and often cold have always found them to be clean and functional.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

We booked 2 rooms at the above lodge a couple of weeks ago on arrival the rooms stunk of mould and smoke, white stains on dark blue sofa bed, double bed legs broken and centre of bed collapsed and on the floor! No mattress cover, mattress disgusting.
Huge amounts of dust and debris on carpet, bathroom bin not emptied and bathroom smelled of urine (strongly). Desk chair so filthy we could not sit on. Wall next to tea tray covered in spilt drinks, radiator filthy amongst loads of other things. When I complained of the health risks the Receptionist immediately arranged to move us to another lodge which was fine as it was very new, and seemed resigned as if she had heard it all before.
Have emailed and sent photos today, won't hold my breath. But find it disgusting that these crooks can charge people to stay there. (On second thoughts only fools would pay to stay there!).
Avoid it like the PLAGUE!:eek:0 -
update on 10/5/2010
Automated response to my first complaint email, automated response to my second complaint email.
Sent them another one saying that unless the matter was resolved within 5 days I would take further action.
Couple of hours later an email from them said they had referred the complaint direct to the lodge Manager.
Telephone call from lodge Manager this morning to say they will refund in full!!
Hey Triumph!!!!!
I'm happy...0
