maybe the room was so sexy that it aroused someone and they made love to it? just my 2 cents worth.....0

Just to say, I'm the shyest person ever, but even I've complained to a couple of places when they've put me in bad rooms (most notably smoking rooms). You, or your daughter, have nothing to feel stupid about, it's the hotels fault.
I expect they'll try and help out somehow retrospectively, but your trip would have been a lot nicer if you'd just gone straight back down after checking in and said the room was a tip.
Hope you get something sorted anyway.0 -
It really is better (obligation even) to give them the chance to put things write.
Mistake do happen and probably someone it just somehow came off the list for cleaning.
If you wanted to make a legal case for something (speaking generally) then you have an obligation at every stage to allow the other party to mitigate their losses.
So both officially, morally and for your own benefit you need to say something.
You can state that the room has not been cleaned without appearing rude.
For example
"Sorry to bother you but I think there has been a mistake and our room hasn't been cleaned today".
People will not think you are rude or arrogant if you approach the problem in the right way.0 -
Just tell them there's a time and place for everything, especially spunk! Report to the DTI if they don't clean up their act... no pun intended!0

We stayed at London Docklands travel lodge in June, and the room was awful. The bed "thing" that my girls were supposed to sleep on was hard, and had no bedding. the bedside cabinet was broken and our room over looked a busy 4 lane motorway! it was during the summer heatwave, so we had to open the window, but nobody could sleep because of teh noise (even at 4am!)
We asked for bedding for the girls, even though we phoned beforehand to make sure there would be adequate bedding. A little while later, one quilt and two pillows were dumped outside our door - they didnt even knock! Afer that, we couldnt find anyone who spoke clear english, so we were stuck
I wouldnt go there again0 -
I booked a Travellodge room in London to stay after a night out - booked over the phone in the afternoon (last minute invitation) and paid with my credit card.
Had my night out and got a cab back to the Travelodge with my partner.
On arriving was told my room had been given to someone else. This is a room I had paid for remember! So I asked him if he could see my booking on his computer screen - he confirmed he could - so I asked again (politely) for the key to the room that I had booked then. He then said I should have telephoned earlier in the evening to confirm my late arrival - for a proper hotel, yes - for a Travelodge, no! I asked the guy on the desk to show me in the T&Cs where it tells me that was necessary. He then changed tack - asked me to wait and disappeared through a door ... he finally returned and said he did have a room but didn't want to offer it to me because it didn't have a sofabed in it - who on earth did he think I had hidden behind me .. there were two of us and I had booked a double room ... perhaps he thought we might have had a barney and didn't want to share a bed! Then he said he had another room to show me to see if I wanted it ... so .. that's 2 empty rooms then ... by now it was gone midnight and we just wanted to get some sleep ... so I asked him if the room had a bed .. yes .. if it had a bathroom ... yes .... then why did he feel I needed to give approval first !!!!???!!!!! Feeling quite exasperated by now we finally got a room key. The room was grubby, curtains hanging off the curtain rail - so I threaded the curtain hooks back onto the curtain (problem solved!). The room was a disabled one and there was an orange light next to the emergency pull cord which constanty flashed on and off - we couldn't work out how to turn it off so I stood my handbag in front of it!!!! Only one towel .... by now we had had enough so went to bed very exasperated!
Next day wrote to Customer Services and by return of post received a voucher for a free room in any Travelodge valid for a year. Result:beer:
Very strange experience ... stretched my patience a bit .. but pleased with free room as we use Travelodge quite a bit and had never before had such a ridiculous experience!
Hope it works out well for you OP.0 -
I'm sure Travelodge 'featured' on Watchdog last year - apparently they're absolute 'masters' at overbooking their hotels (therefore maximising the chances of filling them) and then turning away people who have booked in good faith...
.. and as if by magic ! :
