I do feel better now reading that others have two tone hair. Why can't I be liek the RV though - who seemed to go from sleek shiny jet black to fine gorgeous spun-silver OVERNIGHT! (or it seemed like that! ) But he's got pernicious anaemia and that does that to hair..

I so didn't want to know that  (please tell me it's only pernicious anaemia and no other kind) because although my hair seems to have stopped falling out so fast the number of grey roots I noticed when I went to have my between-colour-cut today seems to have increased dramatically....

Our new windows will be here in about 10 days :j We're replacing two small ones that don't open, and the kids rooms are having new glass because the seals have broken/blown/can't think of the right word :D and are misty, they're double glazed but are acting like single glazed because of the seals. So job no. 1 is being sorted. The other windows need attention but they'll have to wait.

We usually visit Bookers once a month, I'm giving them a miss this month. The trus have been informed that we're all living out of the freezer and cupboards for a while. I'll still go shopping every week for milk, veg etc. but I have to find the money for all the little repairs around the house.

I've got plenty of Christmas cards, wrapping paper, crackers etc. left over from previous Christmases. I buy it all to match, then save the leftovers. The last three or four years have been co-ordinated, this year will be a mix-n-match shiny sparkly colour explosion :D

Talking of Christmas - Matalan have British chocolate coins. Who wants Euros hanging on the tree??!! Though I'd mention that cos last year a few people asked where to find them. And Waitrose have tins of Roses for £4.99 - other supermarkets are charging £6-£7.

  • Hoping to pick brains here:D

I found a lump of whoopsied top rump beef lurking in the freezer last night - any ideas for what I can do with it?

I probably put it in there in the first place as I didn't have a clue how to cook it:o but it's time it was eaten!

I was thinking SC ..... as it might make it more tender (?) but open to any & all suggestions!

    Thanks:)

That makes me feel so much better ...

Bl**dy restless legs are back and keeping me awake. I need to try epsom salt baths again... Unless anyone can do a quick amputation for me...

Great question rising... I've just located one of those too, and want to do something in the SC that will generate freezable leftovers...

    Morning Everyone :)

Just a quick catch up before I go to a local churches coffee morning/jumble sale. I'll reply to everyone's posts later and hopefully tell you about my bargains :D

We spent last night at DS1's college discussing post 16 options. I had to get a taxi there as DH got stuck at work, so I'm £10 poorer after that. After trailing around for nearly two hours it looks like DS1 might have settled on A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, ICT and Physics. I have clever kids *add in proud mommy smilie here please*
I was actually prepared this time as we normally end up arguing about dinner and then going to an indian restaurant and spending a fortune. So before I went I made a batch of pizza dough and sorted out toppings. It still meant that I got dinner at nearly 10pm, but it was a lot cheaper.
Now I had better go and get dressed and hope that the pain I have in my back and sides stops soon.
    Take care everyone xxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Why not slow cook the beef with some veg, a tin of tomatoes, a glug of wine and some stock. Throw in some pearl barley and you have a lovely warming stew. Eat half, freeze the rest for a pie with a nice thick crust another day.

I really must take everything out the freezers and go a proper stock take.

I'm lucky enough to have 2 (thanks to DM upgrading:D and getting a bigger one) and try to keep "raw ingredients" in the outside freezer and "cooked meals" in the inside one.

I have a pretty good inventory of what's in the outside one, but have obviously had a "blip" (probably when I got in and [STRIKE]couldn't be a*r*d[/STRIKE] was feeling tired) & didn't take stuff out to the garage as found this bit (and a couple of others:o) lurking at the bottom of the inside one.

Hope the legs feel better soon.

Ohhhhh that sounds quite tempting and a great idea for the leftovers too!:D Ta

:D Good morning all and esp Rising From the Ashes. ;) If that beef joint is troubling you, please roll it in my direction as I adore beef. I have 3 omnivourous (sp?) slowcooking cookbooks out from the library and have checked for recipes involving rump beef and there is one which involves a slow cooking sesh in a heavy casserole dish so not strictly slowcooker but would that do? Post back before 9.30 and I'll stick it up on the thread.

I'm gonna be dragging Gollum the Slow Cooker out of his box this morning before work to load him up with a veggie chili. Haven't been able to find a recipe which matches what I intend to do so will wing it, try to remember what I did and treat it as an experiment. I'm only feeding myself and the freezer so if it's so-so, I'll just chomp it down and get over it. Who knows, it may be a culinary triumph. (Probably not :p:o) Will be using soya mince as have that by me, and whoopsied veggies obtained yesterday from the Magic Greengrocer. Gawd, I love 'em; Mr and Mrs and their old Dad and the teen son, diamond geezers all of them.

Not a lot of OS going to be happening here until I can get back from work and get on with other stuff (mending stuff) as I seem to be in one of the periodic three buses-at-once stages and most of my life is coming unstitched, unglued and unhinged (esp me).

Heads up; Poundland often has hair dyes and I'm sure I've seen them in the 99p store. The big-name brands, too, might be worth checking them out before dropping £7 on your usual product.

Laters, GQ x (and Gollum sends his love).

:rotfl::rotfl:So do I, I've just never tried cooking it before:o so it's usually only a treat when I go to DMs!

Yes, please :D as I've got a Le Creuset type pot which would be perfect for that .... and more bits of beef in the freezer to try it with:o

I vaguely remember being in Mr As one day and there was a load of bits whoopised to silly money so I bought several of them .... and they've been in the freezer ever since as I've no idea what to do with them!:o
