I used to love the T thread but I started to find it a bit doom and gloom - I am sure they are right but its frightening and tbh I would rather be an ostrich with my head in the sand where world economy is concerned
I just did a Mr T shop and got sooooo many whoopsies!!! Inc oxtail which I have never cooked in my life before (but have had he!nz oxtail souplean turkey breast mince and venison leg steaks! Reduced to silly prices. I don't think I have ever had venison before.
Love Fru x
Your right - it is frightening, and Im glad there are those who do focus on it, and hopefully someday someone with the right ideas and knows how to fix it all, will make it to Government - but like you Im not one of themI need to focus on my own situation and issues... and am happy to bump my gums with similar souls along the way
Well done on the bargain meat finds... Ive never had oxtail or venison either, but my friends love oxtail! If you like, I can ask for some recipes/cooking suggestions?

Jo, I am in Angus. Hope move goes well.
Pm me if you are needing any tips around the area. I am more coastal than brechin tho.0 -
Frugal oxtail needs to be cooked long & slow...in a simple casserole put together in a similar way to a standard beef stew is ideal.
My Mum always says the secret to the best oxtail stew is to cook it twice...so cook it on day one & then reheat & serve the next.
When cooked properly it should fall off of the bones with little or no help.It is delicious, a bit richer than beef tho.

Aw girlies can't you come and post on the other thread? I haven't time to be checking 2 threads. I get little enough done. :rotfl:
As MSE Andrea said as long as we keep it friendly there's no problem with the posts.
Pleeeeeeeaaaaasssssseeeee. :kisses3:0 -
Haribo beat me to it - we got two threads running now, and I'm getting confused! (and it doesn't take much):rotfl:
I don't mind which one!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Just wanted to say Frugal, venison is gorgeous, the only thing to watch is don't overcook it, or it will go tough. Medium or rare is best, if you can enjoy it like that. I practically dance for joy when I find it whoopsied as that's about the only time I buy it
I got a lovely venison joint whoopsied in M&S at less than half price a few weeks ago:j
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
I think this thread is meant to be a little more light hearted and focusing on ourselves and our own situations rather than the bigger picture!!!
ie - those like me who intend to bury my head in the sand where world financial affairs are concerned as I can't do anything about it.0 -

What other thread?:huh:Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
O well, until it gets sorted out, I will just have to follow both, but I can't promise that I will make much sense (not that I ever did!)
I'll ask a question that I asked on the other new thread - I copied the Every Day Cookies recipe from the old thread, but can someone who has made them tell me whether the flour is plain or self-raising? (recipe said SF?) -ta!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
My late Dad came from Brechin (Park Road) and we had many a blooming freezing cold holiday there with family when I was a little girl. Dragged off to Montrose and made to paddle in freezing water (as it was good for you
,no it wasn't it was icy cold
:) )This was normally in summer around July time so God knows what its like in mid winter.
The welcome from friends and relations was amazing though and my late Auntie Lizzie made the best 'tattie soup' in the world You could almost stand your spoon up in it.
Stock up well on home made soup0
