After two years I finally have a stairs carpet and it looks wonderful!!! I am so chuffed.

Showing off is not nice you know :p :rotfl:. I might actually get one one day! Ours has been gone for 6.5 years and we still have holes in the walls. We're waiting on the builder coming to sort it out and then we might actually get a carpet down :)
Can you tell I'm jealous? :o

Kaz, I moved into a cottage with no kitchen, bathroom or heating. 6.5 years would have sent me over the bloody edge!!! :D It is a runner and although I couldnt afford stair bars it looks lush without them. I have these ideas in my head that people think are weird - until it all comes together.

Only the living room and my bedroom to do and finish off the cellar of doom!!!

    It's proper springy 3D's :T

Thanks for the heads up - I do my dad's shopping on line for him and have just booked slots for every week up until christmas. All christmas eve slots were already booked up in his area - and some of the Friday ones too.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Hi all, mind if another newbie joins? It's just me and OH, we're both 34 and have good jobs but we're saving up to buy a house and need to get our finances under control!

We had our own LBM recently - luckily have no debt but we kept having to "top up" our joint account each month and couldn't understand where all the money was going and why we weren't saving much. So we downloaded our statements from the bank for the year and input it into excel and OMG we have only managed to stay within budget one month (and this only takes into account what we spend on the debit card, not what we pay cash for or buy out of our money for the house).

I have sporadically done meal planning but it always fizzles out so am determined to get into it properly. Done an inventory on my freezer and I reckon we have 60 - 70 meals worth in there (just bought a new chest freezer - see, this is where the money goes!) so hopefully don't need to spend much to get us through the rest of the year.

The trick seems to be to read a list out to OH of what we can have and he chooses what he would like - his response otherwise is "I don't know what we've got".

Anyways, enough rambling - nice to meet you all (although must admit to lurking for a while!)

I done something diferent for tea tonight, I bought a packetof schwartz sauage casserole mix, I put 6 cumberland sausages with a large chopped onionand the packet mix, I always use those oven bags cos meat dont shrink:eek: and I tied the top and bakes it for 2 slow hours oh the smell was so good, I done some mashed taters and some veg it really made a very nutrional, hot ,cheap tea, thats the second time ive used those packets, and we are quite addicted, I do love gravy but its nice to have a change from time to time.......:D

Suday I got some chiken filletts , and put those in a oven bag with a jar of that "chicken tonight" and also that was very tasty, with some veg, I expect all you ladies are muttering "theyve been out for years", well ive never tried anything like them before and I think they make a super meal........:D

Its been real cold here today , we woke to a white frost which means a nice sunny day to follow, so I got 2 load of washing dried outside and now in the lovely warm airing cupboard...........We are forcasted heavy rain tomorow, so how the weather change so quick, never mind we are nearly into December so we shouldnt grumble if we have to have the heating by now........................ Hope your all keeping warm and fed......

shegar, I usually use packet mix for sausage casserole too, and I won't feel ashamed of it:D I usually add a load more paprika to it, but then I add it to everything, it'll be going in my coffee next:D
