Afternoon Everyone
mardatha I hope you feel better soon and it's good to see you posting again
kidcat fingers crossed the meds do their job very soon. I can imagine my DH doing the same thing with regards to grocery shopping. We would live on sausages and frozen pizza if he had to feed everyone
Many thanks for all the sleeping advice I got given. It's nice to know that I'm not the onky insomniac on here. I managed to get some sleep between 2 and 6am, so aren't feeling quite as out of it as I could be.
I got up and did some knitting at 11.30pm after staring at the ceiling for a few hours. So the body of the owl I'm knitting for my friend's daughter is done and sewn up, but I'm having a sod's own job with the wings. I seem to be knitting triangles rather than wing shapes. Oh well, practice makes perfect and it's my own fault for trying to do it without a pattern.
My lovely friend and her two year old son came to visit this morning. He is a darling, but it is good to get a reminder every now and again that I really don't want another child and to go back into the tantrum and nappy changing stage. He wasn't very keen on the cake I made the other day. Fortunately his Mommy appreciates lemon cake.
Tomorrow a friend is having a Book People party and I'm trying to decide if I need to buy any more books. The present cupboard is so full that the suitcases are buried under them. I think that I might be packing stuff into a carrier bag when I visit my PIL this weekend as I'm not sure I can face digging the cases out.
Now I had better go and see what to make for dinner that the monsters might eat. Wish me luck.0 -

biobulbs are energy saving full-spectrum bulbs. They'd probably be useful in your part of the world so you can have daylight during the winter...

I apologise for coming on here to whinge, but I've had to take the afternoon off to give my landlord's handyman a fourth attempt at fixing my leaky sink. I've just run the tap - after leaving it twice as long as I was told to - and he's made it worse! There's now water running steadily on to the floor rather than down the pipe: as you might guess, I'm not a happy bunny!
Anyway... greenbee - thanks for consoling me that I'm not the only who's been tempted by Amaz0n this week! I'm finding the whole thing strangely fascinating - I keep popping back to see what's appeared and what's sold out since last time I looked, even if it's nothing I'm remotely interested in buying.
SDG - I'm glad you've managed to get a bit of sleep and feel a bit better. We have regular Book People deliveries at work: you can always tell when a new one's come in by the cluster of people round the table by the photocopier! (Not that I ever buy anything from them. Well, not that often, anyway.)
Back after a very long break!0 -
Just popped in to say hi
. Not got long though, gotta get tea out of the oven (minced beef wellington- yummy) and take DD to brownies before my bath and then off to work for another night shift. Need to have a good old menu plan tomorrow as I have still got lots of veggies and they will be turned into cake so that the littlies have snacks galore for their lunch boxes.
Chimney sweep's coming tomorrow afternoon so we'll be able to have a real warm fire this year without DH worrying about the chimney going up in smoke.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
How weird, I just came in to see what was happening and see my name SPELLED WRONG !!
MY NAME IS NOT MAD ARTHUR ! :rotfl::rotfl:
I've been MIA, not been well and flicked through some forums but couldn't be bothered to talk. Feel bit more human this morning so have already posted in the "winter" thread. Sort of lost the plot and interest a bit since the the demise of the tough thread though.
Was reading a great book, called "Bettys Wartime Diaries" got it on Amazon. My god - all I can say is that rationing didnt make any difference in rural Norfolk. Dont read it if you're hungry
Been looking into changing diet as the ME just isnt going away, advice ranges from Atkins to Vegan so I take it as usual, nobody has a bloody clue.

Dear god! Come up and visit me and get taken suddenly ill and we'll go to my doctor!
Yep and if you need HRT, you have to pay double as they charge separately for the oestrogen and progesterone :mad: How they can get away with that I have no idea.
If I ever plan to get seriously ill, I might come up to you0 -
Am so jealous of your sweeties, seems everyone gets treats except me here. Suppose its because I am usually asleep!! Prescriptions are 7.40 here.
Free in Wales too! I had forgotten this when I had to go to a specialist hospital over the border. The consultant gave me a prescription which he said I HAD to get in the hospital. Not asking why I went along to pharmacist and just walked away when I was given the bag - 5 mins later out of breath phamacist caught up with me and said I needed to pay - over £14!! When I spoke to my GP about it she said if I needed more to just call the surgery and tell consultant I had 'plenty left' if he offerd me anymoreBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Sending hugs mardatha - hope you feel better soon.
Started antibiotics Mark two yesterday and doctor thinks will need at least one more next week - its costing a blinking fortune. Beginning to wish I had looked into pre payment certificate. Have tackled shopping online this week as between dad and oh shopping they spent two months worth of budget on two weeks of food - worryingly they also used majority of the freezer stuff too - although no vegetables have been used at all!!
Kidcat, you can get a certificate online and I think you can order it now and get it dated so it covers a prescription you've just had. It's about £29 for 3 months so any more than 4 prescriptions in that time and you are saving. And you can make a 3 month one last about 4 months if you get regular meds - get it dated for the day you order a prescription, use it 4 weeks later, 8 weeks later and 12 weeks later and you've got 4 months of meds. If you're on 2 different ones like I am at the moment it really saves lots. Not that I'm hoping you'll be on stuff for ages and ages."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
lizzy - thanks for that, I looked it up today as I have had three prescriptions in two weeks already, will likely have two more next week and I need to renew my inhalers, so 3 months seem worth it, but I cant back claim as I didnt ask for a special form when I paid!! But am going to order a three month one when I go next week before I pay for any more.0
