NOOOOOO - not carpetright!!! I wouldnt bother trying to get them on the phone. They are one of the two people I tried and "someone would be phoning me to arrange a visit". That was two weeks ago but as you cannot actually access the shop by phone nor leave a message, I have given up with them. Best to go in. That said my vinyl came from them in the kitchen and providing you know exactly what you want and are going to fit it yourself then you will be ok. They have some very nice vinyl at the moment.
Too late she cried! They actually rang me back and, because they agreed to move three heavy appliances before fitting, they're going to fit it as well. It's lovely cushioned stuff and I'm just soooo happy.
Maybe it depends on the shop, this lot were really helpful, I have to say.
I just KNOW something's going to go wrong now I've typed this! :cool:Normal people worry me.0 -
I am really pleased for you. They sound efficient so grab them because I am coming to kidnap them! :rotfl:

re bendy peopleits fascinating stuff isn't it?? DS2 is currently still under investigation for Marfans we go back to the genetecist after xmas for more tests,he ticks all the boxes but his blood tests are not conclusive??
JoJo could be a circulatory thing has she had an ECG recently?
We're still waiting for the geneticist to agree to see her. She had an uneventful echo and eeg, but the ECG apparently had some abnormalities in the trace. Still waiting to find out what these 'changes' are. Oh, and we are waiting for orthoses, a callback from physio (as they still haven't bothered returning any calls trying to get an appointment) and an ophthalmology appt to check her eyesight. She might have an orthodontics appointment, but as she seems to think that toothpaste is child abuse, the odds are that she won't get anything done on that account, so she will most likely turn into a chinless wonder :mad:I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
OK what is Marfans please?0

D & DD and Jojo - I have a bendy person too. *Think* she's just regular hypermobile but having problems with paediatrician and physio who just don't seem to know enough. They keep trying to attribute other problems to her and write off the HM as 'one of those things some children are' - I'm getting stroppy now so they's better watch out. OH has many of the minor signifiers but hadn't realised they were significant until we started researching, and we havve no information further back as he was adopted however I strongly suspect that were he to find his birth family there would be a long trail of bendy people! DD is 2 1/2 now and is just about starting to walk with support but it's such hard work for her as her ankles are amongst her most mobile joints and think we might be starting with some joint pain as we've had a lot of middle of the night waking in tears recently, its horrid not to be able to do anything to fix it for her. One of my closest friends was a gymnast and alternately winces and looks on jealously as DD does without a blink things that took my friend weeks of training to get anywhere near. It all looks doubly painful and impossible to me as I think I must be the opposite of HM as I am so unbendy it's untrue - I've never been able to touch my toes without bending my knees!
Good luck getting it all sorted for your bendy people and hope you get somewhere.0 -
Good Morning everyone - lovely thread rachbc can I come in? Another exile from the T thread here. I do hope this one is allowed to stay and not forcibly merged with the other.
I'm another one who knows very well we, (all of us) are in a mess and doesn't need someone running around shouting "doomed, doomed we're all doomed" Just need support from others who are also just putting their heads down and doing their best.
Sense of humour about the situation helps, women have always got through hard times by laughing and crying together.
Most of us have got caught with the errant bit of clothing stuck somewhere. Mine for some reason is socks. In my old job I regularly had to go to London on the early train for meetings. Can't tell you the amount of times I would realise I had an (unexpected) lump somewhere and have to perform seated gymnastics to extricate a woolly item which then spent all day jumping out of my briefcase at inappropriate moments.
Beautiful day here but cold, going to wrap up warm and get the dog out soon. My day off today and got lots to do. See you later. XX0 -

Good morning all - all the stories of stuck knickers and socks have made me giggle this morning.... I love Pigpens idea of the 'escaping shadow' - I can just imagine the guys face if youd said that!
Aw hugs to all the poorlies and bendy peeps who need to be poked and prodded... I have no experience or anything constructive to offer, except of course hugs, tea and biscuits....:coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee: help yourselves
Well, since I have no food, I went to a friends for tea- it resulted in not getting a lot of packing done, but then at the same time it was nice to have a break for five minutes - and of course, it was free!!
Anyway - it was soooooo cold in the house this morning, you could see your own breath - indoors! i relented and have now put the heating on
Off to school now, will be back later

My son is a bendy person...he was so bendy when he was little when he played on the floor with stuff he was like a puddle. The hospital have some pictures of him somewhere in one of his incredible bendy poses.
He was a reluctant walker, and eventually got fitted with some orthotics for his shoes, which he hated with a vengance, but they helped incredibly in tipping him into a better walking position. He's 19 now, and TBH you wouldn't really notice he was bendy, unless you asked him to show you.
A few years ago, when I was having a lot of trouble with my back/hip they told me at the hospital that I had hypermobile joints, so DS is able to blame it on me, and takes great pleasure telling me I have 'poor genetic material'
Re builders and quotes. My OH is in the business...and I know from what others say that an over the top quote is often given when they simply do not want to do the job for some reason. Reasons can be that the job is too far away, that they suspect that it will turn out to be a hell of a lot more work than is immediately apparent to the customer, and that the customer won't want or isn't apparently able to pay for what the job will turn into. A lot of people want a job done, and want to pay a fixed price for it, but if you discover as the builder, for example that in changing a window, a lot of extra work needs to be done as well to make that job happen, ie the brickwork around the outside turns out to be very loose, then if you've quoted £300 for a straight forward job, but you are actually there for a week plus material for sorting the brickwork out....well I'm sure you get the drift. A lot of people won't pay a daily rate, because they think the builders will take the P. and drag the work out. Sometimes I guess they do - I've seen the TV shows, but I don't think the majority of builders are like that.

I'm fairly bendy too - though mainly shoulders, wrists and fingers - I had no idea til a few years ago and people pointed out that my hands should do the things they do - the only problems it gives are a total inability to open jars as my thumbs just won't grip!
I've been trying to get a quote for a sash window to be refurbed and had 2 no shows and one stupidly high quote - I think because we just want 1 window doing not the whole lot - how hum looks like storm film for us this winter for it.
Hectic week of back from holiday, parents evenings and running training continues tonight with a 'planning meeting' for DD's party. Hving a joint pty with a friend so we decided we needed to go to the pub tonight to delegate tasks!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
