The more and more I think about it, knowing whats in it is really important. I dont buy cheap and know its not very MSE, but I like a wholemeal seeded batch and DS will only eat a 50/50 type bread too - Thats our compromise as he only likes white.... but he likes helping in the kitchen and I think if he helps, bakes it himself, then sees it cooking, he will be more inclined to gobble it up and I get the benefit of spending less and knowing exactly whats in it!

And Jo...most of the bread I make in our breadmaker is 50/50 I use a mix of strong white and various wholemeals/granary/spelt flours, so if your son 'helps' he will see that what you guys are making is what he likes on the packet IYKWI?

I had cheese too on my jacket potato and beans... :D

Oooh thanks for the freecycle tip - I will register when i get to Iver-nowhere, wonder where my nearest group will be, probably still Dundee. Homemade 50/50 sounds like a plan...but if Im lucky enough to pick up one off freecycle, it might not come with a book? Can recipes be adapted to suit other breadmakers or are the specific to your own - :rotfl: i apologise if thats a really dumb question...

Ohhhh - speaking of cheee.... someone mentioned that the price of cheese in asda had rocketed a few days ago. Well, i went in for cleaning supplies and chocolates for LO to take to school today with it being his last day and all...

I havent bought cleaning stuff for ages, as Ive been shopping from home, but you used to get 3 bottles of bleach for £1, then it was 2 for £1.... when I went in, it was £1 each and the bottles were smaller!!! Stardrops used to be 76p a bottle and now it was £1.88!!! I was shocked!

I bought my smartprice sponges and cleaning cloths and left! :(

No such thing as a dumb question! As long as you can figure out the controls you should be OK. There are breadmaker recipe books that are not brand specific, and I'd be surprised if you couldn't find an instruction manual online somewhere for whatever one you end up with anyhow.

do you have a Mr M near you or Coop? They have (been in quite a few over the last few weeks) quite a lot of marked down cheese. Mr M has lots in the deli section (where you get the orkney cheese and pate etc), I got a large block (400g) for £1.10. As for cleaning, as Starsrops is getting harder to get here I have resorted (sp?) to using smart price/value foam bath for cleaning. Bleach is cheapest in home/b&m bargains where I bought one (750ml) for 39p.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Ooh while we're talking lunch and cheese - i had a cheese omelette :D

Best and fastest fast food known to womankind.:D

I often buy cheese at my local select and save type store as they often have 2 for 1's and it keeps a long time - or you can freeze it. They often do better than supermarket deals on the butter too.

So I have my HM bread in BM, HM soup defrosting for me and OH. Some left over chicken breast ready to make chicken pie for kids, which will have to be with shortcrust as i'm out of puff and i don't make that! SOme unused courgettes, peppers and mushrooms are going to be a ratatouille type thing and some floppy carrots are going to be soup (those that aren't in the pie).

My washing is blowing on the line and i have my knitting beside me.

    That's enough OS for today - isn't it? :A

Stiltwalker - dont take any crap. My wonkiness was detected when I was 5 and said it had gone when I was 6. It was then spotted at 14 in a pretty poor state with a rush job op. Some kids do grow out of these things but others dont. Mum believed the drs and it nearly cost me alot more than the ability to walk. Needless to say she was hopping mad when the truth outed.

Thanks Redlady and Jojo. Believe you me I am NOT getting fobbed off they have p****d off the wrong mummy bear here! I have already written to the paediatricaian in very strong terms and copied in everyone giving them a time frame for dealing reasonably with me or I shall be taking further steps. I am seriously teed off with the way DD and I have been treated. They are so focussed on their own agendas that they are failing to see what is in front of their noses and because DD is not exactly co-operative with them and refuses point blank to say a word in front of them, they are convinced that she can't talk despite me reiterating til I am blue in the face that she has a good vocabulary if a little unclear. (presumably I'm just lying about my daughter's capabilities then?) This seems to mean to them that she must have something else 'wrong' with her therefore the hypermobility is either a part of this or incidental. Grrr - must calm down! Just makes me so mad, partly for how we're getting treated but also because presumably they are doing an equally poor job with other kids who maybe don't have parents who are confident enough to take on the system.

Ok rant finished - sorry guys but so fed up of it at the moment.

British Heart Foundation seem to have furniture shops in a lot of towns separate from the ordinary charity shop selling clothes and books etc and they sell electrical goods very cheaply - I have seen breadmakers and slowcookers in ours as well as food processors. They've all been checked before sale so you're not taking a risk. I remember Memory Girl saying she had bought furniture in hers - she's not far from St Andrews, so they must have the furniture stores in Scotland as well as South of the Border

Oh thats another great idea, thanks maryb. That'll be my next stop if freecycle dont have any listed.

i washed my bedding today, and hung it on the line to dry it off. I knew it was too cold to dry completely outside, but figured it'd dry mostly on the line then finish it off in the dryer. However went outside to get it and pop it in the tumble drier - only to find its now covered in bird poop and I now have no washing machine!!
