Got quite a few yesterday.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

:rotfl: typical - I dont have any bread either, so no beans on toast for me!
I do have a potato though, so that is now in the microwave... I dont really like microwaved 'baked' potatoes, but beggars cant be choosers and all that. Mmmmm your SC contents sound yum - although Im leaning more toward the pork steaks and lentils than the oxtail... only because Ive never tried oxtail, but having now read your description - I just might in future!
Thanks for the feeback on the breadmakers - i will look into it and post you all some linkys before I buy and you can help me with my shop
Im thinking along the lines of Kate, if I dont go, I cant buy anything else - plus the cost of fuel running out to the supermarket just for bread! But on the basis it can be used to make all sorts of goodies, which would save me more money effectively and more cooking from scratch at home - SOLD!!
I wasn't overly keen on oxtail as it sounds nasty! I bought it because it was whoopsied half price :money: Now i've tried it, I will definately use it again0 -

You put me in the mood for baked potato and beansThe only time I've ever had oxtail was nasty (to me then aged between 5 and 7) oxtail soup that my gran would heat up from a tin for her father, as it was his favourite. The rest of us would have to eat it too - and hated as my gran's HM soup was great. I may now have been persuaded to give oxtail another chance!

Jo
Have a look at Memory Girl's 'Matrix' threads for all round inspiration plus some useful specific stuff on using a breadmaker and other ways of cooking for the smallest possible sum.
I costed out using my breadmaker and the bread is cheaper than the cheapest discount supermarket bread but much nicer. However I cannot get DD2 to eat it - she won't eat anything but supermarket half and half.
She loves the pittas I make in it however and grudgingly admits that my pizzas are pretty goodIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

:T Give it a go - its scrummy - had it for lunch and will have it for dinner too0 -
Jo Check freecycle first before you buy several have been advertised lately in our area all went very quick thought. People maybe clearing out their kitchens to make space for "C" word0

Jo - PIC has got there before me. I got mine from freecycle. The instructions on top are in German but in the booklet it's shown in English. I love mine as I dont just nip in for bread and come out £30 lighter!! I use a mixture of water and milk though and rapid bake so it comes out much lighter than normal. It had hardly been used until I got my paws on it!!
Stiltwalker - dont take any crap. My wonkiness was detected when I was 5 and said it had gone when I was 6. It was then spotted at 14 in a pretty poor state with a rush job op. Some kids do grow out of these things but others dont. Mum believed the drs and it nearly cost me alot more than the ability to walk. Needless to say she was hopping mad when the truth outed.0 -
Marfan's is a multisystem connective tissue disorder than can be benign (the Marfanoid habitus - tall, slender, long fingers and toes) or - well, not. As it affects a particular protein in the body, it can also affect heart valves, bones, the eyes, the palate and a whole load of other parts. DD's father is 6 foot 5, has a chest like a barrel, rubbish eyesight, crowded teeth, has spontaneous pneumothoraxes (basically a collapsed lung) every few years and a hugely enlarged heart. Scoliosis is a common feature, as are rib cage deformities.
I, however, have EDS - Ehlers Danos Syndrome III or Hypermobility Syndrome (along with Rheumatoid Arthritis, but let's not split hairs here). that has similar features, but doesn't tend to be as dangerous. It's carried on a different allele, so somebody can conceivably be so fortunate as to have both. Sorry, DD.
Both mean that the person with them is likely to experience pain, deformity, recurrent dislocations and poor healing from trauma with a lot of scar tissue build up.
If someone hypermobile doesn't suffer pain, then they just need to be strong physically and be careful not to encourage overstretching. With a CLOSE watch for any other symptoms. They also tend to be immune to some anaesthesia and well trained in dealing with sprains, strains and dislocations.
But, having got permanent damage from not being accepted ('it's just something some children have', they said), I would say don't take the brush off without good evidence that nothing is amiss.
Must dash - would rant on, but have to go and play bass (something which hypermobile fingers on the left hand is VERY useful for!)
[door slams]I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
You also know precisely what's in your bread - no artificial additives, and you can control how much sugar and salt you use - and you can make pizza bases, flavoured bread, fruit bread, rolls... can you tell I love my breadmaker? :happyhearJo

The more and more I think about it, knowing whats in it is really important. I dont buy cheap and know its not very MSE, but I like a wholemeal seeded batch and DS will only eat a 50/50 type bread too - Thats our compromise as he only likes white.... but he likes helping in the kitchen and I think if he helps, bakes it himself, then sees it cooking, he will be more inclined to gobble it up and I get the benefit of spending less and knowing exactly whats in it!unixgirluk wrote: »Has anyone else noticed more and more yellow-sticky items in the supermarkets? Jo if you get a BM, check out the instruction book as they usually have recipes & I'm pretty sure that the one that I have (:o collecting dust in the back of the cupboard....must rectify that situation) has a recipe for a 50/50 wholemeal/white recipe so if the one you get has a similar recipe your LO may be willing to give that a go esp if invloved in the production process.
Oooh my beans on toast were lovely...had a smidge of grated cheese on top too just to up the ante
Lentils are in the SC too.0
