Was going to say I dry my mushrooms too and put them in a kilner jar. really handy for stews. Sliced thinly and put on trays in a warm oven, keep turning over, but remember to cool fully before putting in jars.

  • I dry my spare mushrooms and keep them in a jar.

  • I use one of these http://www2.westfalia.net/shops/household/preserving_food/preserving_food/dehydrating_/193811-food_dehydrator.htm had it for a year. Great for crisps made from apples, parsnips sweet potatoes and for drying spare veg. Don't know how long they will last but we are talking months if not years.
There has been lot's of debate on MSE on them. I went for cheap and cheerful in case I didn't use it.

I know its a few pages back BUT if you wear tights under your trousers make sure if you put the trousers on the next morning you have remembered to get rid of the tights. I didn't - was walking up the hill to work one morning and a chap tapped me on the shoulder, he said errrrrrrrr you have a leg following you. :o:o:o:o:o:o

Thanks Suzy, you must've posted as I was typing:) will def give that a try.

Mushrooms are one of the things I'm always running out of - local shop is very expensive (and usually runs out) & supermarkets nearly a 20 mile round trip (not great if you just want the odd couple of things) so it would be great to be able to "bulk buy" when I'm at the supermarket and dry them.

I've had an old pair of knickers stuck in my trousers all day before - wondering what the more unsightly than usual bulge was!
