Ta very much - I love their cheese and onion mix.

I made bread and rolls from it, couldn't have done it properly, didn't turn out too good :(

CCP - salmon safely consigned to the freezer next door, so it has got a fighting chance! I love smoked salmon, and gravadlax. If I see cheap samon sides I get them to make it - far cheaper than buying, and you can vary the recipe. Smoked salmon and gravadlax are must-haves for our boxing day lunch starter, so I must exercise some self control!

  • Has my kitten been in your house? :D. i'll take a look under my sofa, shall I? :rotfl:

Seriously, though, hope you find it soon.

Haven't mastered mult quotes yet, so can't display your mince comment, but I too did mince in the sc a few weeks ago, and agree, it was ok, but really not as tasty as in the normal oven. I also don't know why, espesh as I LOVE the SC. By coincidence, I'm doing mince & dumplings later this afternoon, and will definitely use the normal oven

:rotfl:I usually find stuff underneath either the fridge freezer or washing machine - my wee cat is a nightmare for pinching things (the big one has his moments too)!

Glad it's not only me that's found mince isn't quite the same in the SC - I will try Seakay's suggestion of frying off first if I try it again.

Well, have posted 2 different things on Freecyle and got people after them in minutes this afternoon. My group has upward of 20,000 members and I have noticed a distinct slow-down on offers in recent weeks. Have also seen a lot fewer bric-a-brac items in the charity shops which I frequent so the economy is obviously taking it's toll in unexpected ways. Do the rest of you notice this, too?

Yup, ours is really slow too (although a lot smaller than yours).

Thanks to the lovely chap in Hereford who answered our call to an emergency line (called him mid fireworks party, lots of screams and bangs), we were able to borrow a pump and have now removed the oil to our neighbour's tank. He went way beyond the call of duty and called us several times during the evening to check we were ok. Letter of thanks to his boss tommorrow I think. He saved us £350.00 for an emergency pump-out.

That's brilliant :D what a nice chap - and a letter of appreciation will be much appreciated I'm sure. Good luck with finding a new tank and with getting your neighbours insurance sorted.

I have a big dilemma ..... when I moved in, I was given a lovely kitchen table & chairs by a very close friend (which I love and would be sad to see go). It was a wedding present to her from her DF (sadly now passed away) so has great sentimental value to her but unfortunately she didn't have room for it in her house when they moved.

DM has just got a lovely new dresser for her kitchen and has offered me her old one but I can't fit it and the table in my kitchen:(:(.

The dresser would be fantastic as storage (this house has no cupboards) and I end up with stuff stored in bags underneath the table as I've nowhere else to put them.....

Thinking I'll phone my pal and ask if she'd like the table back (but I know she's still nowhere to put it) or if there's someone else she'd like it to go to .... does that sound OK?

MRS CHIP.... so sorry to hear of your recent problems, thats all you need expensive oil running down the garden, dont be fobbed off with 2 insurance companies need to negociate:eek:, he caused the damage so hold him responsible..........you do seem more upbeat today:D....

My poor hubby had a violent seizure this morning resulting in him ending up in A&E, but all okay now,he is on epilepsy tabs due to brain being damaged badly by stroke, and hes not had a fit for 7 weeks then out of the blue all hell let loose................Its wore him out and he is resting in bed, I can hear him cos we are in a bungalowsoI dont have to keep running up and down stairs...........

Today is the first cold day weve had this autumn and the heating has been on most of the day, at least its warm and cosy indoors, im trying to keep upbeat cos the ruddy SAD keeps trying to get to me and im a fighter and I wont let it ruin my life, Iwill probaly end up buying a sad lightbox to get me through to January where then I will be fighting fit with the nights getting lighter..:D hugs to all....

Rising, not knowing either your house or your furniture, is there somewhere else in your property that the dresser could live to help with the storage shortage? Even if it meant shuffling stuff round between rooms?

Ohh Shegar, that's awful and must have been really worrying, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Nooooo:( I've tried to think where it could go but I've already got a big unit in the lounge so I couldn't get the dresser/table in there too (unless I got rid of the dog's bed;) but don't think he'd be too happy! unfortunately the bed won't fit in the kitchen as the table is on the only free wall).

I did think about putting it in the garage but the car just goes in (only 'cos it's tiny, most people can't get theirs in) and would rather keep the option of being able to do this over the winter.

Honestly, I really don't know why they don't put cupboards in houses anymore - I hate having to have things like the hoover / portable radiators / air conditioner / clothes airer etc lying around in rooms as it looks so cluttered.

Rising - have you thought of upstairs solutions as well as downstairs? And could the dog's bed go under the table? Is the unit in the living room more worth keeping than the table/dresser? Do the table legs come off so it could be stored under a bed? Does the dresser top come off so it could be used as a sideboard?

Actually I'm sure you've thought of all this already, but I know what it's like to have been given a treasured piece of furniture and to have to do radical furniture rearranging to fit it in.

Shegar - hugs to you and DH. My DF had a stroke when relatively young and I know how it turns life upside down.

Mrs Chip - congrats on getting your oil problem part sorted out. As others have said, home insurance is not a legal requirement and the lack of it does not absolve the other party or his insurance company of responsibility - although from your recent posts the neighbour actually seems to be doing the right things. And your engineer find sounds like a diamond.

On a lighter note, pup and cat are coming to terms with each other, although pup's attempts at dragging cat across the floor by the scruff of her neck have not gone down well :rotfl:I did stop him, but it was funny to watch and she just got up and slapped him afterwards so no harm done.

    Excuse me
I've been away for a few weeks but was reading off and on and saw the new Tougher thread and was following it.

And now, it appears that those Tougher threads have disappeared but this one is in their place, but with no reference to the Tougher threads to help peeps find them.
