thinly sliced potatoes layered in a baking dish with chopped bacon and onion. Pour over a cheese sauce and bake in medium oven for about 40 minutes until brown and bubbling and the potatoes feel done when you test them with the point of a knife. Serve with cabbage or other green veg. Cheap and delicious

Ohhh this sounds very yummy:D I've got a pack of bacon that needs using this week and 1000s of potatoes so will def give this a bash!

A while back Hugh FW made his own version of findus crispy pancakes which are really good with cheesey bacon filling. Actually now I've thought of that, might have to do it for tea! I made them a few times after the programme and they were yummy, brought back memories of tea at friends' houses when I was a kid - my parents were a bit keen on reading the ingredients list to let us have them! My mum had that e is for additives and my little brother did query in a loud voice in the shop once "but additives starts with an a!" He also once announced, very put out, "but I LIKE additives!"

I remember reading that as a kid too, not thought about it in years. It's probably still somewhere at my mum's house, as I don't think she's ever got rid of a book.

 I know who will get the upper hand out of those encounters - all our cats have been "top dog" over the years:)

I quite agree - and the cat has been in a doggy household since she was 7 weeks old so I'm fairly laid back about it. It was funny though - pup looked like a panther dragging its kill back to a tree or something, except the "kill" was still twitching its tail :rotfl:and scratched the "panther's" nose when she got fed up.

Have been doing boring paperwork stuff all day after reading the BBC 24hr forecast for today's weather, which was something like, Drizzle, Drizzle, Grey Cloud, Light Rain, Light Rain, Drizzle. Still the paperwork is mostly sorted and will get finished tomorrow when the forecast is as above :D
