I always charge it in the kitchen & the charger lives in there but I've been looking for a fortnight & can't find it anywhere. I knew exactly where everything was but had a good re-sort and moved stuff a couple of weeks ago & now can't find anything:o. What's worrying me though is that I've found the charger for my old camera (not used for years) where the new one should've been ..... hoping I've not thrown the wrong one out:eek:
I've found one on e*bay for £9.99 but I hate wasting money like that and I know as soon as I buy it, I'll find the missing one.....
Has my kitten been in your house?. i'll take a look under my sofa, shall I? :rotfl:
Seriously, though, hope you find it soon.
Haven't mastered mult quotes yet, so can't display your mince comment, but I too did mince in the sc a few weeks ago, and agree, it was ok, but really not as tasty as in the normal oven. I also don't know why, espesh as I LOVE the SC. By coincidence, I'm doing mince & dumplings later this afternoon, and will definitely use the normal oven.

Well, the yellow ball has persisted with it's unscheduled leave of absence for gosh-knows-how-many-days but I have been allotmenteering with the help of my parents. We did 3 hours' graft; I let Dad dig things whilst I forked up couch grass roots, took down bean-canes and instructed my mother in the Art of Weeding. She was a couple of meters away in strawberry patch and kept asking my what various things were.
Mum; "Is this a weed?" - points at strawberry plant.
GQ; "No, that's a strawberry. Those are supposed to be there. Anything else is a weed."
It was a leetle bit stressful as I was concerned about what she might pull up but we managed to get some productive stuff done. Mum isn't a dim bulb, btw, just has never been interested in gardening so only recognises the commonest plants like dandelions.
Well, have posted 2 different things on Freecyle and got people after them in minutes this afternoon. My group has upward of 20,000 members and I have noticed a distinct slow-down on offers in recent weeks. Have also seen a lot fewer bric-a-brac items in the charity shops which I frequent so the economy is obviously taking it's toll in unexpected ways. Do the rest of you notice this, too?
Mrs Chip ((hugs)) that's a lousy bit of luck with the oil tank.
CCP did you buy your sausage inna bun from C.M.O.T Dibbler by any chance........?
Heads up Was in Mr T yesterday and they have a 3 for 2 (cheapest item free) on a variety of homebaking supplies inc flour (even breadflour). I made out like a bandit and am going to continue to stock up as it's on until 22nd if memory serves.
I used to be able to get really regular and sweet deals of whoopsied bread but nothing lately. Even the whoopsies have been about £1 + a loaf which hardly consitutes a bargain in anyone's book. So I will continue to home-bake and at least I know what's gone into them such as zero salt.
Today's cunning plan involves doing some alterations on a cast-off shirt from my brother which I've decided would look better minus it's collar - it's my gardening shirt now. Plus I am re-touching areas of paintwork on the bathroom walls where the emulsion has flaked down to the bare plaster.
I'm dibbing lots of layers of matching emulsion into the flaked bits which were tidied up with sandpaper so I can bring them up to the same level and then I will scrub and repaint the whole wall. It's been pending for several years but there has always been something more important to do.:o
Gosh, it's nearly dark outside as the rain is coming in yet again. Better check my toes haven't developed webs......
Have a good evening, everybody, and hugs to scared cats and dawgs and pets of other denominations.
PS Couldn't agree more with the idea of reserving fireworks for official displays only. Every year in this city we have people terrorised by criminally-insane fools who post fireworks thru letterboxes and yesterday SuperGran heard the druggie upstairs talking loudly to his g/friend and threatening to put one thru HER letterbox. SG has b*lls of steel and won't be cowed but the Police were duly informed........we had armed response officers down here the other week when another junkie rang the Police and threatened to blow up the Towers. And she wonders why they came for her with guns and tasers.........
Shoebox Towers..........you don't need a TV down here, it's like living in a soap opera.
ETA Well, the awkwardest Freecyle item has gone and the less-awkward one will go tomorrow. It's a good feeling to re-circulate items which would otherwise be festering unused in sheds and cupboards.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I think that mince is nicer in the slow cooker if you fry it off first to give it a bit more colour and flavour.
My cat is now so elderly that her deafness works to advantage as fireworks are no longer scary. Still wish that they were only available to buy to someone with a licence though. Sorry to be a kill joy and I admit that we used to love watching Dad set of a few fireworks in the garden and being allowed to hold a sparkler etc, but that was before displays and as soon as our area started putting them on (initially it was the local fire brigade who did it to raise funds and they had an amazing bonfire as well) we went and took our own parkin and it was great. Now fireworks seem to be cheaper than ever, I constantly see kids well under 16 with them and they get let off for days on end instead of one night a year so that it's really hard if you have pets to protect plus the expense to nhs, fire and police is enormous little own the vandalism and menacing behaviour that some have to deal with.
Couple of sunny days here so washing on the line and doing a bit of a tidy up in the garden plus checking that the plastic cover for my mini greenhouse is ok as want to try and grow some salad in trays over the winter. Read somewhere that you can plant broad beans outdoors now - has anyone seen any seeds? Everywhere I've been has cleared them as now they are considered out of season.0 -
I'm teaching myself knitting too Mrs Veg Plot.
Does anyone know if Aldi are doing the bird in a bird in a bird again this year..... and how much is it? I missed the River Cottage episode of doing this a few years back. I would love to watch it.
Yes - 4 bird roast, £9-99 I think
Oops - should have known someone would answer quicker
Seakay - I got my broad beans from Homebase, variety Aquadulce as shown on an old Gardeners' World I saw the other week. Started them in the green house in some looroll inners in a seed tray and planted them out last week."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
Listening to that day in day out as you work must drive the staff mad.
That's the end of my rant.
Have a good day everybody.
My Mum works in retail & indeed she says that the Xmas music drives her nuts cos they start playing it so early....& it's on loop so she's hearing the same thing over & over every day!!! :eek:Does anyone know if Aldi are doing the bird in a bird in a bird again this year..... and how much is it? I know a couple of people have replied about this but thought I'd mention that L!dl are doing a 3 bird roast (can't remember the price tho sorry)
I've had a kitchen bound day today...baked a rice pudding, Softstuff's applish muffins (I tell you they are devine), & a malt-loaf...thought I'd better get plenty of use out of the oven if it was going to be on for a while

Evening All
We have had the yellow ball, it has been a glorious autumn day.
Thanks to the lovely chap in Hereford who answered our call to an emergency line (called him mid fireworks party, lots of screams and bangs), we were able to borrow a pump and have now removed the oil to our neighbour's tank. He went way beyond the call of duty and called us several times during the evening to check we were ok. Letter of thanks to his boss tommorrow I think. He saved us £350.00 for an emergency pump-out.
We will need to get a new tank, but the regs have changed. It is going to be a challenge to get a new one in, not a lot of scope in our tiny welsh yards to comply with regulations.
Managed to get a bit of time this afternoon to attack my equivalent of the Valley of the Kings - I feel better if I can get even just a little done every day, not quite as daunting. The thought of having lots of lovely soil to plant veg in spurs me on, and the bit of the garden that is being reclaimed gets a lot of afternoon sun, so will be perfect for veg. I am however, currently surrounded by rubble sacks filled with either small rocks, gravel-like stuff and soil, all waiting to be deployed. Along wth the various wood piles the garden is like one big rubiks cube - one day I will do a final click and a garden will appear!
Dipped into MR T on the way back from collecting the pump, mainly to replace the cat litter we used to soak up the oil. Found some reduced smoked salmon (down from £15 which would have been ridiculous to £7.50 then to £4) for 300g, so that's in the freezer for christmas. Also had Quality St tins for £4.50 so grabbed one to hand around christmas afternoon. Picked up a £10 meal deal and 3 for 2 cheddar which worked out at £4.26 a kilo. Total bill £26 odd, savings £13 or so - that's without the whoopsies. We eat a lot of cheese, but this should get us though to New Year now!
Last night's sausages for dinner, and G&T in hand - I feel like it's Groundhog Day!
Thoughts and hugs to all who need them, and thanks for the kind messages. No matter what troubles come our way, I count my blessings every day.
ETA - is it me, or is it very quite atm?Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
CCP did you buy your sausage inna bun from C.M.O.T Dibbler by any chance........?
Sorry, no - from Mr C.O. Operative, actually.
Thanks for the heads up about the Mr T offer on home baking products - bread flour is the one thing I haven't got much of in my winter stores, so I'll wander up there during my lunch break tomorrow. I don't usually have much time for Mr T but I might make an exception, just this once.
Mrs Chip - how lovely to know there's still good, reliable workmen around. :T I generally prefer to use local companies where I can, for that very reason. I'm deeply impressed that you can make smoked salmon last until Christmas, BTW - it never lasts more than a day or so around me, no matter how big the pack.
I've spent the last hour or so out in the kitchen and it smells quite deliciously autumnal now: onions and thyme from the soup; apples, plums and mixed spice from the crumble; and a faint underlying hint of firework because I've got the window open to stop things steaming up. All I need to complete the set is the smell of boiling chutney (my DF always used to make chutney so autumn smells of boiling vinegar in my mind): sadly that's going to have to wait until next weekend!Back after a very long break!0 -
