For those having digital picture problems I would highly recommend the following tried and tested product sold at screw fix.

and

you will need both, its a mast amp that increases the signal by 26db compared to a booster that only increases by about 6db.
I have one and its increased my signal from 60% to 95% with no ghosting.
its easy to fit and its cheap. both cost £15 plus P+P compared to B+Q who sell it for £30.00.
As an example I live in a weak signal area and could not get Ch5 even with a good aerial. With this amp I get a clear Ch5, on analogue that is.
Another thing fit a anti surge plug because when you switch on say the kettle this can cause your TV picture to break up.0 -
I have had a new aerial fitted. My signal is excellent so I should not be having any problems.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

I am very upset that I ever bought a TV from Sony and will never buy one again.
I didnt think I had the bars until I read about it. You can mainly only see them at night when watching a darkish picture or a picture that has a black colour. If you watch the credits in say Corrie, the bill or even emmerdale you can normally see them then. Adverts are the worst.
Sony say they have never come across it before but I know its a lie as its in their engineers bulletin.0 -
Where can you view the engineers bulletin, or is it hush hush?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Forgive my ignorance but does a mast head amp have to be fitted at the aerial end - ie can it be fitted at the tv end of the aerial lead with beneficial results (saves going on the roof)?0 -
its always best at the aerial end about 1 mtre from the top.0

In responce to The Nicksters question,
A Mast head amp would work anywhere between the T.V and the aeial, but the whole idea of a mast head amp is to amplify the signal as close as possible to the aerial before any more noise/loss/interference is introduced.
With freeview (in anglia region at least) a wideband aerial is also required because signals are through the whole band rather than just in a small part of it like origianal aerial was designed to pick up for anologue.Nope.... Still cant think of owt interesting to put here.0 -
My have solved my problem, got the runaround again this morning,as soon as i said it was faulty, passed to one dept to another:mad:
Left it for 1/2 hr and phoned again,i informed them as it was just not suitable
and i didnt like it.Thats ok we will arrange for a collection(give collection number):j . And DHL will phone me with a collection time, but if not please phone back in 4 days:eek: .Suppose will now have to play the Currys waiting game, give e um until the end of the week then onto c/card company.

Glad you are getting your money back from Currys. Here's somewhere to spend it..

This is a great price! Panasonic 28 inch with digital and virtual Dolby plus a free DVD player worth £60-70 alone for £255 plus £50 delivery. Gets good reviews - haven't seen any of the bad feedback associated with the Sony one. There are plenty of other packages on offer, too.
There's a hefty £50 charge which you might pay if you find this telly 'unsuitable' too! DO check the T & Cs before you buy. Their implementation of the Distance Selling rules is not the most generous (e.g. can't return the stand for a refund!).
p.s. If you are returning the Sony under the 7 day Distance Selling regs, do send a letter too, as email/phone calls are often considered not enough. Do check before it's too late.0
