So wait, breaking news - customer doesn't read T&C's, kicks up a fuss when they get declined for not meeting their end of the contract?

Last time we flew with Ryanair, for the first time ever, the bags were all weighed! Anyone whose bag was the tiniest fraction over 10kg was told to make the bag lighter or cough up the extra charge.

So loads of people were frantically repacking, shoving t shirts in pockets and putting items of clothing over whatever they were already wearing.

One woman even put five packets of bacon down the front of her jeans, got her bag to weigh under 10kg, passed through the weighing area, took the bacon out again and rammed it all back in her case with much effing and blinding...!!

You see, that level of entertainment for free is only available with Ryanair. 10kg is OK 10.00000000001kg is tooooooo much and not what you paid for with your ticket.

How did the price compare with what you would have paid to fly with Ryanair (assuming same departure/arrival airport etc)?

    Oversize baggage?

How could your investment in a cabin bag that
that fits with the IATA guidelines

possibly be over-sized for Aer Lingus?

    Ah, of course.

Aer Lingus actually have the same dimensions as Ryanair (who you've been slagging off for having
    a smaller width ie 20cms

    Aer Lingus dimensions:
    The maximum dimensions for a cabin bag are: 55cm x 40cm x 20cm or 22in x 16in x 8in.

    Ryanair dimensions:
    maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm

Well, knock me down with a feather!
They seem to be the same.

    And Aer Lingus also say:
    These limits are strictly enforced.

Did it really happen as you've said?
Or did you wake up in the shower?

You may have noticed from my avatar that I am not the madam referred to in the story.

Im not sure any airline has a comparable same airport fare as Ryanair.

I've not even seen your avatar and have no idea what story you are referring to.

So you paid more to fly with Aer Lingus than you would have wih Ryanair, took a cabin bag that was too large and they kindly popped it in the hold for you - is that right?

Maybe you should invest in a new cabin bag - one that fits with Ryanair's dimensions (oh, and Aer Lingus's too ) to avoid the inconvenience of not having a cabin bag with you in the cabin (it's all in the name).

So, got my peanut butter and banana toasted sesame bagel, and my freshly squeezed orange juice in a white paper bag, and wandered down to the gate.

"Can you put that in the bag in the sizer please?" she said.

    "Huh? Me?"

"Yes. Youve got to put the white bag in your carry on bag, and in the sizer please" she said.

"But its a bagel and an orange juice bought in the lounge"

"I dont make the rules" she said.

Stupid stupid stupid cow. Put the bagel in the case and she let me through. As soon as through gate, took bagel out of case again, into white paper bag.

Does a box of chocolates bought in the duty free count as your carry on luggage on Ryanair?
