Hope Alan's stomace settle's down soon, and thinking about OH's Dad he had to stay in bed for his first lot of tablet's, we use to do him a flask of tea and a bowl of musile soaking the milk up the night before he went to bed and leave it on the bedside table along with his tablet's so he could take his med's then go back to sleep for an hour or 3

    Morning guys :D

We got up at 8am to go to the car boot. Alan had a shower and I then changed his bag, and had my shower, before we had our breakfast cereal & fruit. But after eating, he had terrible trapped wind ..... upwards by the way ;) ..... so I gave him some peppermint cordial which eased it a bit, but the pain had zonked him out again, so I told him to go back to bed for an hour and see how he is then .................... I am just going to check on him now

I went in to check Alan and he said he still wasn't up to going out but it was just as well, as by that time the heavens had opened and the rain was [STRIKE]stotting[/STRIKE] battering down. So he stayed in bed and not long after, about 11.45, the District Nurse came. We chatted about how he'd been and how the extra meds were helping and she stressed that he need not be in any pain, as meds can always be reviewed and increased to keep him pain free. She asked the Nurse who came with her to check Alan's blood pressure as we chatted but it came back very high:eek: Aln's has never had blood pressure problems other than being higher when first checked when he's got to have it done at surgery, but fine after 10 min wait I can't remember what it is called but it is quite common I think. Anyway, we chatted on and the D/Nurse checked it again later but it wouldn't take a reading which she felt was because it was still too high. So she is coming back to check it again and asked us to get the GP to check it when he comes. We couldn't make a date for her to come back as we are due up North next week and in Portsmouth the following week, but it is hard to plan from hour to hour, never mind day to day, or week to week, so I will ring to request a visit either when we get back, or next week if we don't get away

After the nurses left, Alan decided to stay in bed a while longer. He was feeling tired out but also getting down, probably due to nurses talking about what pain relief can be used when he gets worse which puts getting worse into your mind, plus with the blood pressure problem too. To buck him up I told him to 'pull himself together man' with a laugh and he laughed and said 'that is one thing you would never say to me, I know that' :kisses2:

He is staying in bed for now and I will check him about 1/1.30 for his tablets and see if he is getting up to have something to eat. It must be so hard for him when the inevitable looms in his mind, poor lamb, but he doesn't let it get to him too often. Keeping positive and having a laugh - that's the way to do it :D

Blood pressure will rise if you are in pain, so once they control the pain it should fall again.

Your both doing incredibly well and for Alan to be able to travel the country shows how well you are both coping.

We had one of those wrist monitors but when Alan was getting his bp checked by nurse sometime last year, she said to check how old it is as they stop giving true readings after a couple of years or so, so we got rid of ours at it was about 10 years old and it was a bit iffy, and haven't bought a new one yet. One BP monitor added to list of things to buy

As you say, we have to keep positive for them and enjoy what time we have :)

Alan felt much better when I woke him at 1.30 so he got ready and we popped down to the cafe, ringing to let Mr Cafe know we were on our way and to have our bacon, egg and cheese sarnies ready as he closes at 2pm. Afterwards we had a little look around the auction and then picked up our meds at the surgery dispensary, before heading home and Alan going straight back to bed

I went in to wake him to watch the footie at 8 ........ to find him in agony. He had been trying to knock on the headboard/wall for about an hour to try to get me to come to him. He'd heard me come back from Tossco, then go out with the dogs and then back again, plus on the phone when Linda rang me to find out how he was ................ and I never heard him knocking :o:o He had pains all over his body ... his arms felt like they were going to explode. He couldn't even get out of bed and go to the toilet which he needed to do

He was due his tablets so I pursuaded him to get up to see if that was better. He could take his tablets, have something to eat and try to watch the footie. He couldn't eat anything but did have his tablets and after about half hour the pain was still bad and he wwas going to go back to bed. I got a fleece rug and put it around his middle as that was where the pain was now, to see if the warmth would help, and he actually stayed up till the match was finished. He did go to bed then though, but was feeling much better. I have just checked in on him again and he's had a sleep and feeling better. Will take his last tablets in to him about midnight

    Hi Susan

Just wanted to pop in and say hello and give you and Alan a big hug.

Hope Alan feels better again tomorrow and that you can get out again if the weather isn't too awful.

I may not post on here but I do keep an eye on your diary and am thinking of you both.

    Take care
