Child Benefit is £20.30 a week but you multiply it by 52 then divide it by 12 then it's £88 per month.

£20.30/wk x 4 = £81.20/mth (plus thats the amount that goes into my bank each month.)

I have to do the calculations obviously, i need to now that if i go back to work i wont be screwed 1 month, 6 months down the line where i cant afford the rent or bills and get myself back into debt again. Im trying to be practical about sort out all the facts before i jump in and change everything.

But you're getting in debt to your parents at the moment!

Are you going to tell your parents that you might not take a job because you're better off not working and taking their money?

I've talked to them about it all but they aren't rolling in money. When they said they would help me each month it was agreed that it would be for 6mths give or take or untill i get a new job. I dont want to take the money off my parents as i feel like im talking the p***.

If your parents help was only very short term, you don't really have a choice about going back to work so it would seem you need to start looking at what expenditure you can cut out and cut down.

It's paid every 4 weeks it's not monthly. That's why I don't trust your numbers. Did you use 4 weekly figures or monthly figures which are higher.

You need to budget accordingly. You will still get housing benefit and that will help pay the rent.

Whatever you earn will reduce your benefits almost pound for pound. It's actually about 95 pence in the pound. So you never be much better off unless you get a well paid job that pays more than double all your benefits combined.

How much do you get in child support payments?

That's it you got it now. You said £480 in your statement earlier. And I mean the money from the child father that does not live with you and is supposed to send you at least £5 per week.

jetplane - Have you declared this £900 a month income to DWP, Local Authority, JobCentre and Inland Revenue?

    pizzle84 Yes i have.

And have they reassesed your Income Support and Housing Benefit taking into account your unearned income? Because according to your first set of figures they haven't included this money.

Ahhh im confused now!! For child tax credits i get £240 paid into my bank every fortnight so £480/mth but on the entitled to calculator it says i should get £59.36/wk so £237.44/mth. Think iv done something wrong in the calculator for that. So now at this point i get £480/mth for child tax credits.

The dad is unemployed so i dont get anything off him (im fighting at the moment but im not getting anywhere!!)
