There are still house sales at this time of year (Hypno moved in to her new house on December 23rd or something!) but they're rare, and more so in this climate .... if you rent it out, I'd *definitely* go for it being managed, at that distance - a friend who manages his own lets has a *lot* of fiddle faddle around broken pipes and whatnot - you can't do that at 300 miles distant. With 3 months coverage of the mortgage, thats a *lot* of money to ignore! As for when you get a tenant - tenants are a lot more mobile than owners, remember - there's plenty of time yet for a renter to move in before Christmas, I'd have thought.

Would you have to pay the fees to the mortgage company and the estate agent up front? How certain are *you* about the rate they're advising you to rent it out at? Do you need to put anything thats valuable into storage, or remember to bring it to where you are now?

Sounds good to me, anyway. Hope this helps!

Yes that is what I thought. It would be helpful and ultimately would also save us heating bills. I have somewhere else I can stay when I have to be there - dogs would have to stay here but we could work around that.

That would be great if we could!

No - both when we actually get a tenant.

I'd say it was about what I was expecting. We could shop around but there is a lot to be said having it managed by the same people as are selling it and I think they are pretty good. Hopefully wouldn't be a lot less.

No - house is empty at the moment - well - we'd have to get rid of the junk that is still there but that is a weekend's work. Would need to get the dishwasher fixed and might need to get a new drier (there is currently a space) though I guess if it is unfurnished people may have their own.

Thanks it does. Would make sense to do this over the winter while we can still cover the mortgage and come back on for the spring I think.
We might even get a tenant who wants to buy it!

This is not going as well as expected so am dropping some of the less urgent stuff to focus on the report.
    [STRIKE]1. Work report[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]2. Finance/DFW[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]3. Work report[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]4. Sorting/tidying/organising[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]5. Work report[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]6. Work report[/STRIKE]

Interesting though - have been on the go all day and have still only managed 3 focused 40 min periods. How is that possible?

I can so relate to that ... I seem to waste an incredible amount of time in fiddly stuff - where's that sellotape, I know I had some biscuits somewhere, that sort of thing ... and tidying before I can do a thing ... if you find a good answer, tho, let me know!

LOL. Yes can do that very effectively. Think one of the problems with this pomodoro thing is that the time periods aren't quite long enough - so I am running on each time to finish the bit I am working on. So think I will up the time to 50 minutes and have a 10 minute break in between - see how that works tomorrow.

The other problem is I am too easily distracted! :o

Well I managed 6! Am stopping now - dog is getting restless and thinks his dinner has been forgotten and am hungry myself. Out tonight so no chance of any more tonight. Will have to get started early tomorrow as have a training client to see later in the afternoon.

Have a good evening everyone. See you later.

Right - on with the day. Am going to concentrate on the report today - 50+10 poms and hopefully break its back. Don't think it will be finished today as still a lot to do but should be tomorrow with luck.

As I have some other work commitments today as well am going to aim for 4 poms on the report plus one on admin/sorting/cleaning etc.

Not much DFW stuff going on at present but will at least cancel Lovefilm and save £8 a month and tell the CT people that the old house is now empty - do they still give you six months free?

Just notified the CT people and we are due over £500 refund! :j:j:j - was so gobsmacked that I didn't take in the exact amount :rotfl: but a cheque is being sent out! Plus it is a saving of £180 a month.

Also cancelled work parking permit so should be getting £50 extra in my pay packet from next month.

Feel like making progress. Now to walk the very patient dogs.
