What's with the new background on your own posts on your threads? Thought something had gone wrong with the quoting for a minute!
Woke up today with a horrendous headache - it is just starting to clear which is just as well as I have lot to get through - and most of it is report writing of one kind or another so needs concentration.
Have decided to set myself a daily writing target. Most of what I am doing (the hard stuff anyway) is writing in one form or another - and it is certainly the main element of my day job at the moment - as well as a big part of what I am hoping to do. So setting a daily target might help get some discipline. Question is how much is reasonable? Think I may start with 1000 words a day and see how that goes. That is about 2 sides of A4 - not outside the bounds of possibility. If I achieve that, it is over 350,000 words a year (even allowing for Christmas off!). Some might be in reports, some blogging etc. but if I can do that then I will be getting into a good writing habit.
Finance wise all quiet. Will work out PADs and stuff later.0 -
I like the idea of a writing target - and everything you read about authors says 1000 words a day, except for compulsive producers like Agatha Christie.
I hadn't noticed the background thing until I read your post just now ... I'll go back to my own thread to check ...
ETA - yep, its on mine too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Have done over 1500 so far today finishing a report for a doggy client. So day 1 tick. But I will try to do some more as I have another report to finish as well. Perhaps I should set two targets: 1000 words on "work" related and 1000 words business/dog related?0 -
Good luck with your words target. I do tons of words a day without trying.... but need to focus more on things that improve career - that's the hard bitAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Yes - I can probably do 1000 words quite easily - but a 1000 good words that move something forward - that's what I need to work on.0 -
I don't know about the balance of words between your doggy business (ooh, that sounds wrong, sorry!) and work related, but probably for me there'd be a difference between number of words drafted and number of words revised.
Or would there? I don't know now!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Oh yes I think there would - or is. It is a tricky one - 2000 words or 1000 words revised and usable? Actually why not either? Thanks KC - that makes much more sense.

Ok - dog at vet (for second op to splint leg). Odd bits of shopping done (still within budget). Soup for lunch made yesterday. Off out to give other (recently neglected) pooch a good long walk then on to my writing target - work focused today.0
