Hi all - finally a chance to get on here after a very busy - but productive day. Spent the morning catching up with things and tidying up. Then colleague came to discuss project. Looks like there will be a bit of work for me between now and the spring - should be about £2K's worth - with some nice meals thrown in! :D Then dog to vet again for dressing change and then out for a fabulous meal - cost me £4 for the car park - meal was paid on expenses by colleague.

She also had some great suggestions for ways I might get more of the same kind of work (project-based research/support/management) so will be looking at that over the next few months. Could be a useful source of income.

And to cap off a lovely day I just checked my banking and found a Quidco payment for £10.83 and a payment of £630 which I think is a combination of fees and expenses for work OH has done. The first will go straight off the CC - the second into the offset to start our "Plan C" fund! :T:T:T

Hope you have all had good days. Am very tired but will have a quick scout around the site to see how everyone's doing before I head off to bed.
  • Glad to hear the Furball is up & around (albiet hobbly) Miz

Sounding good & positive on the work front, that will be a nice start income wise and with the other things you've got brewing - should hopefully give you a boost.

Thanks GA - doglet is so much better today - much more cheerful and racing about - I suspect by tomorrow my main worry will be how to keep her quiet for 6 weeks! She had her dressing changed and it is looking better than the vet had expected so all good.

Feeling pretty positive on the work front - there are lots of avenues to explore and I think the combination could provide a decent income still giving flexibility and home working. All good.

    How are you doing?

Sorry the first vet was so useless re your dog - glad the second one was better and that you have insurance in place.

Great news about potential projects - hope that helps you stay positive. Like the idea of squirrelling money away just in case too tho

Well the suggestions made to me were to contact the research and development offices at local universities and offer services - and to contact the funders in the areas I work in. Depends on what type of project you would be interested in? I know that a lot of academics either don't want to do project management, reporting, evaluation etc or aren't very good at it - and so my plan is to offer those sorts of services. Not sure if that helps?

First opportunity to update on here - have been involved in work meetings all day so far. Productive though and I definitely have at least £2K's worth of additional work over the next six months. :T

Online banking shows no surprises, which is always nice. A regular payment gone off a card - another £50 paid off :)

A few days ago I joined the Don't throw food away challenge which is great for making me think about what we waste. Today was the first day I threw food away - about a third of a lettuce that had gone slimy - equates to about 20p and a mouldy cherry tomato - about 5p. May only be small amounts but am wondering how much it adds up to over a month.

Anyway off to catch up with other threads. Hope you are all having a good day!
