sorry to hear about your dog... hope he/she recovers quickly
I think I would be tempted to go for the offset option - the most important thing is to be able to keep a roof over your head....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The poor dog! And poor you and OH .... hope you all had a good night.
DT focussed in on exactly what I'd thought - that interest rates are a part of the variable. 5.75% is a lot compared to a 0% card - and you keep easy flexibility as well.
I *have* to get into making flapjacks ....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Brief update as I must get moving - lots on today. Just dropped poor pooch off at the regular vet where they are knocking her out to stitch her foot up properly. Rather relieved about that as it was still bleeding last night through a huge wad of lint and bandage but not good for the finances - reckon won't be much change from £350 by the time they have finished (including emergency vet yesterday). At least she is insured so we'll eventually get most of that back - but her premiums will go up again next year and there is the excess. Ah well - can't be help - needs must - and it wasn't her fault poor love. If I could get my hands on the idiots who throw broken glass into the bushes though it would be a different matter
Shopping this morning and then a dog training session so will at least be making a little extra money today. Then lots of work - lost time yesterday with the drama so need to catch up today. Will catch up with everyone later.
ps only 3 bits of flapjack left. Hoping the dark lane puts the kids off but prepared to hold out in a dark room at the back of the house!0 -

Yep, I can't store sweet food properly either - its why I have my doubts about batch cooking of flapjacks and puddings and the like!
Hope today goes well, mix, you've also got the effects of the anaesthetic on the poor pooch, as well, this evening... do fireworks start early round you? Hope not ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Home - phew! Poor dog has severed tendons in two toes and an infected wound - stupid emergency vet who said just bandage it up for a few days and it would be OK . Thought it was odd that he didn't even examine the wound properly and then said to tell the other vet not to take the dressing off. Anyway she has been properly stitched and is resting now - needs to go back again - and healing will take about 6 weeks - she may need splints on her leg.
Thank god I took her in this morning - and thank god for insurance!
On the positive side did a training session this afternoon which brought in £80 plus I sold some kit for £11.40 profit so a useful afternoon. Did the shopping for a grand total of £51.70 which I was pleased with as I took out £10 less this week (£50), carried forward the £11 from last week and so still have more than £9 left. Am squirrelling off a £2 coin for my £2 coin pot and will keep the rest in case extras are needed. But especially pleased as this shop included several "long term" things, like cleaning stuff and oil. So good to know I am well within the monthly budget so far even with these things.
Catching up with some things from yesterday this evening - hoping not going to be disturbed by T&T - nothing so far - phew!0 -
