Morning all,
Thankyou so much for all your congratulations and kind words last night - it really meant a lot to me
Didnt have any time for celebrating - had to go to A + E with OH. You know he fell off his bike? Well, his knee was still bleeding 5 hours later and he couldn't put weight on it at all - I rang the NHS Direct and there was concern that he'd managed to actually puncture right into his knee and had got air into the fluid sac, so had to go and have it X-Rayed and poked around with.
Anyway, he hasn't, but got it all cleaned out and dressed properly. Has to go back on Monday to get it re-dressed.
Another saga - my washing machine . The chap came to fit the power switch today and he actually noticed that the programme control knob was wrecked (so I didn't have to admit that I'd broken it). Tried to find the part - its obsolete, which means a new washer.
Congratulations to thriftmonster
Happy Birthday Apprentice-tycoon
Today, I think I might go into town and buy a cheap hand mixer (my kenwood broke again! i thought it was alright) and do some Ebay listings etc. Really must get my bum in gear - all these little projects I've been meaning to do for 6 months now have to be done in 10 days

Hello Everyone,
Up later to day, got hooked on CBB, not really making a comment on this though.
Waiting for the Shopping to be delivered, thanks for those Asda free delivery codes, keep them coming. Since ordering online I have acutally saved about £60 so far, although Bloke, being an accountant says that I can't have a running saving until we have seen the full amount over six weeks.
MEN :wall:
He has always wanted me to be thrifty, now I am he doesn't like it. I won't go out Shopping unless I need something, we've just had a heated discussion because he wants to go out 'Window' Shopping for PC's and DVD's, I say it's like inviting someone in AA to a pub.
I think I'll just sit back and have a nice cup of tea.

Hi everyone!
Happy birthday AP!!
Well I'm here at work but everyone's got their heads down and all's quiet on the Western Front so thought I'd pop in for a quick chat.
Today's a catching up sort of day and I've been sorting out clean washing and ironing. I plan to pop into the library on the way home and rent a DVD for the small person as a surprise which we can watch this pm. Also will put out the dark load and finish my mending jobs. Hope to make a couple of malt loaves as they are quick and easy and the tuna bake for tonight. OH meanwhile will probably be cussing as he's trying to load all the software onto our new pc and all was not progressing smoothly when I left this morning!!
This evening I think I shall simply veg out and do a bit of cross stitch.
Hope you all have a good day.

I live in my replica (1930s-1940s) Living room and adore it. My obsession is creeping into the kitchen but O.H. is valliently trying to keep it at bay. I have a stash of enamel pans and other cookware, so he'd better watch out.

Topher I am green with envy. All my 1940's - 1950's kitchenware has been banished to the cellar and all I am left with is my green enamel breadbin (which is original but now trendy) and my utility cupboard. Good morning all.
Happy Birthday Apprentice Tycoon hope you have great day.
I missed yesterdays thread as work was really busy and then we had our Christmas Party in the evening. Which was actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be.
Just been out to Wilkinsons to get some flower seeds on their BOGOF deal, was soooo glad when they opened a store 10 mins walk from our house. The sun has come out down here now, so hopefully I can get in the garden and plant my raspberry canes and generally have a bit of tidy up out there. A friend is coming round shortly to help hang new doors for us. Then it's lots of tidying and cleaning, I've been a bit lazy this week.
The BF made a huge shephards pie yesterday, enough for 2 daysI think he's finally getting this moneysaving thing. He needed a new part for the car which would have been 240 quid new, but he's managed to get one from a parts dealer for 40 quid !!
I you all have a good day and hugs to everyoneDebts: Mum £3923 0% APR0 -
Morning everyone
:bdaycake: Have a great day apprentice tycoon
Well got home late last night after a very dodgy flight where I did start to wonder if my time was up:eek: Who needs a roller coaster eh. There was a great picture in the paper the day before of a flight taking off almost sideways in the wind - thought it was really funny until mine did the same:D
Anyway got home to garden devastation as expected - I have lost a couple of panels but more upsetting is a lot of my pots that decided to come out in sympathy with me I think and have a fly around the neighbourhood:rolleyes:
Had a walk out this morning and I wish my business was fencing repair I suspect all those companys will be very busy for a few weeks. Spoke to my neghbour next door (who luckily is a very good friend I'd hate another fence war) and we decided we are going to have to go with concrete posts as the people with those seem to have survived. Because we get on ok though I think we will wait until the it all quietens down again before getting quotes
Plans for today include washing stuff from last week and packing for next:o and then I need to catch up with the weeks threads (just started on yesterdays thread cant believe how many posts:eek: do we really have 170 contributors now:eek: -- be nice if we have) Food is another surprise from the freezer:rotfl: it looks like a piece of chicken in tin foil but I cant be sure so will have to wait and see (note to self - once I defrost this time I will label things much better:o Also got out a pack of sausage wrapped in bacon bought cheap after christmas and which I love, a piece of steak and some bread - so this weekends food will be creative masterpieces (not:D )
Right off to have a read
Have a great day all
Keep safe in this mad weather

Ooh lucky you, my enamel pantry cupboard (quite a small one) was so rusted, and its wooden frame woodwormed to crumbs, that we had to get rid of it.
My utility cupboard is metal lined, with a rack shelf and an enamelled metal slide out work surface. Is yours one with a work surface?
The butter churn and mincer are in the kitchen as "display" little does DH know that they are part of my cunning plan!T

Lucky them, our re-enforced concrete posts snapped 8" down into the ground during the worst of the winds this week. The post had been in since 1939!!!
