I'm beginning to doubt their version. Is it possible that they "forgot" to tell the companies the completion date?

Having some experience of account switching from the other side of the fence, any ferk up on DDs is invariably the fault of the initiator, not the bank.

Had a letter through confirming the £200 if I continue to meet the conditions and giving me a completion date of 15 Nov. It also says that even though they have contacted my DD companies (of which there was none) that it is upto me to ensure the relevent companies setup the appropriate details before the due dates, as this is outside their control.
  • One of my DD's failed on Wednesday, payment to Tesco Credit Card; I pay the full balance by DD every month so have incurred a late payment fee.

Paid online by Debit Card today, rang Co-op and same story, it's Tesco's fault, my completion date is 15th, they should have taken it from my old account.

Rang Tesco, my account is now being dealt with by collections, was transferred through but Department is closed until Monday :mad:

I don't want a late payment marker on my credit report for something that was out of my control

Do you have to keep the DDs going for the three months? Mine that were transferred were two that I was just about to cancel! I'll keep them going to qualify for the £200 but if I can I'd rather cancel them!

Once you have met the terms and conditions for 3 months you will be paid in the fourth month. Therefore if you cancel the DDs prematurely, you will not receive the £200 as you will no longer meet the conditions of the payment.

Thought so! Never mind, they're small DDs so worth keeping - I'll be ready to cancel them in month 4 :)

Further to my last, the only communication I have received from The Co-operative Bank was a letter this week, dated 3rd November, saying:

    ---

    Dear Suzey

Further to the request to switch your payments to The Co-operative Bank, we have received notification from <name of old bank> that in order to provide details of your Direct Debits and standing orders they require you to sign the enclosed switching form.

Just check the details on the form are correct and then sign and return it in the prepaid envelope. Our dedicated switching team will then contact your old bank and we can progress with your request.

If you have any questions about switching please call our dedicated switching team on 08456 023 862 Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm.

    Yours sincerely

Spoke to Tesco this morning, and they say it's not their fault, co-op provided the new bank details but that was it; I'm at a loss at what to do now as both are blaming each other and I'm left with a £12 fee and a late payment marker

I was in the same situation (but thankfully had no late fee to pay) and also wondering about complaining. On one hand, Co-op is saying that they cannot tell companies when to apply the DD change, on the other hand, companies blaming the co-op.

I have to say, to be fair, that I also received a letter from another company going along those lines:" thank you for giving us your new DD details. However, because the transfer require 10 days, and the next DD date is too soon, we will take it from your old bank". So, if all companies were doing this, there would not be any problem, and that's what Co-op have been saying all along. The ones which tried the DD too soon should have waited the usual 10 days....
