Assuming they've set up your switching overdraft facility, what exactly is their purpose in refusing a Direct Debit?"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. My T-Mobile DD normally comes out of my Halifax today.
My transfer was not to take place until 15/11/11 but T-Mobile already had co-op details set-up on 03/11/11.
Anyway the T-Mobile is still listed with Halifax and Co-op.
Today it did not go out of either account. Rang T-Mobile said theres still time today... hmmm.
Co-op said they have not even requested it.
I paid T-Mobile the balance on my credit card to make sure they got paid!
But who has messed this up (its defo not me) T-Mobile, Co-op or could it be the old bank. My monies on the co-op and I'm not too happy about it.0 -
Not impressed with the switching service so far. Had a text to say the list of direct debits had been requested on the 2nd November and a letter but nothing since and no direct debits have appeared on the 1990's style Co-Op website. You can't email them online and can only phone the switching team during office hours when I'm busy. I'll give it until the end of the week before cutting up the card and closing the account I think. As much as I'd like £200 I'm not finding the customer service very good so far.0

On their FAQ pages it says:
"Q:How long before the Direct Debit companies start taking money out of my Co-operative Bank current account? A:Your Direct Debit companies have 10 working days to update their details and start claiming from your Co-operative Bank current account. However, some companies may claim them earlier."
So, they acknowledge that companies may claim before the 10 days that they mentioned and don't seem to say that it is a problem!0 -
The Co-op tell me they requested the list of DDs from Santander on the 3rd, and they haven't had it back yet. Hence no progress."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. two of my transferred DDs have not been taken from either my old bank nor the new coop account - both accounts show the DD in their list but not taken0

Same with me - Phoned Co-Op to ask why and was told because the payee's had not allowed 3 days from notification of change to their claiming so they refused payment.
So phoned payees who both told me that it was not clear to them why payment had been refused but were not unduly concerned so were going to just present double claims on the next payment date.
I checked with my old bank that altough they wre still showing as active DD's no payments had been taken.
To keep my personal accounts in order I just made payments to them over the phone with my debit card so no big deal.0 -
If this is how the Co-op operate, surely this must be happening all the time?
Assuming they've set up your switching overdraft facility, what exactly is their purpose in refusing a Direct Debit?
They told me because the switch date was 15th no DD's will come out of my account until then; it's annoying because the DD shows as being claimed under the list of DD's but they refused to pay it.
I eventually got the £12 fee refunded from Tesco after speaking to 5 different people.
Not impressed so far with Co-op0 -
