If you are very concerned, why not withdraw the cash now?

    Suze

I'm quite concerned now, regards this £800.00 sat in my account.

I mean, what's to stop a disgruntled CO-OP (possibly x) employee logging in to my account and clearing it out?

Nothing, but if they transfer it to their own account I think it'll be noticed, and they can't exactly use an ATM now can they?

I did think about that but somewhat defeats the object of having a bank account in the first place

    True

It just seems crazy I can call C/S give them my a/c number and sort code they then ask me to quote five passwords and that's it full access to my account

Can't you immediately change your PIN online? Any computer access password provided to or by a third party human should be regarded as temporary.

(Also "Number called" logs on 'phones are an obvious information leakage when people are asked to key in a PIN, so the ideal for telephone banking would be to speak to AVR. And we all know how reliable they are at mishearing even my wonderful southern accent. Everything falling short of two-factor authentication is unacceptable, really.)

You can only change your security details by ringing customer service - that is what I did and had to give answers to at least some of the security questions first

my dds are now switched in 3 days, the s/orders dont have start dates on them though
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Ah, I wrongly assumed that you had only switched for the £200 and weren't actually going to use the account ;)

I would have done it online had I not missed the boat, but now I'm glad I went to the branch as, if anything goes wrong, it should be easier to get things resolved.

Know what you mean about having several different accounts. Before everything went belly-up with the banks (and before I'd spent all my savings on a house deposit), I had accounts at many different banks. Online banking was a lot easier then, tho, because none of the banks expected you to use a card reader or verify transactions over the phone.

Some of my other accounts are still open and I was going to close a few of them - including my Co-op one - glad I held off!

For some reason when I tried logging into my Co-op account on Thursday night it wouldn't work. On Friday when I rang up, the girl told me my PIN had been deleted (for some reason) and that I had to reset it.

It does seem that it is so much easier to have done this in-branch rather than online. For all the accounts I have opened this year, there has been confusion with different online security vs telephone details and so on. I am now remembering account details for 4 current and one credit card account, as I keep a daily (yes, I know, that's excessive) check on my accounts and update my spreadsheet. The good news, however, is that whilst I can remember all these details, I reckon I'm not suffering from too much old-age forgetfulness!

Been with them for well over 4 years and never had a problem. And I'm not concerned about it at all. Could you give Co-op a call and ask about their internal security measures?
