They are now telling me it'll be by mid-march as that's 4 months after the completion of the switch.

I called them earlier and although I've met the criteria set out to receive the bonus its seems to be a problem with the Co-op internal systems that is delaying bonus payments to customers also sending out letters to customers informing them incorrectly that they are not entitled to the bonus. The customer rep told me around 700 people were experiencing delays with the £200 bonus but they were doing there best to resolve the matter. The customer service lady indicated she had received a high number of calls about this matter from customers over the last few days.
Hopefully they will resolve things soon.
  • They're making it up as they go along!

My switch completion was the very end of November, as I too have been told "mid-March"...and that's 3.5 months!

My completion was around the same time in late November, hopefully we'll both receive the bonus soon.

Quick question - maintained balance on CO OP account
Can your £800 be transferred in to your CO OP account and then back out again with in minutes/hours via faster payments system each month to still receive your £200 bonus.

    Hi All
I've been paying the £800 pm required each month via faster payment method leaving it my coop account and normally transferring back to my Halifax account the same day. Having just completed my 3rd £800
payment and hoping to receive the £200 next month.
Wanted to ask if others are -
1.transferring in & out the £800 topup required in the same day.
2.Closing the coop account as soon as the £200 is bagged.
Also do COOP apply a charge if you don't use the account but keep it open say with a £1 balance, would there be any benefit to keeping the account active after bonus has been received other than for a future ' mule switch ' account maybe.

You seem to know more about what I will do with my COOP account than
I do, at the moment I've not decided but when I do I will be sure to ask for your approval first before closing it or posting about it on here.

If you're staying what is all the swapping money in and out, or "would there be any benefit to keeping the account active...........other than for a future 'mule switch' account maybe" for then?

Whatever you decide you don't need my permission, but at least be honest about it if you're only in it for the £200.

There's no need to be concerned.

Customer services also confirmed to me that a number of letters had been send out in error and apologised.

Providing you have complied with their conditions, then the £200 will be in your account as per their original incentive offer. Whether you opened the account as a "proper" main switched current account or as a way for just getting £200 (like me) is irrelevant.

I got my £200 two days before the letter although the letter had obviously crossed in the post.
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.
If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.
  • Many thanks to all that shared their phone conversations! I will wait with fingers crossed...

Like I said I've not decided what to do with the account yet, why is this not being honest please tell ?

Why all the fuss, and why so little patience?

For God's sake - there's more silly fuss going on in here than in HUKD!!!

Be patient and wait - is it really a matter of life and death to so many people? :)

It may be if some of those on here have already SPENT the £200 they were expecting to get ;)

Jokes aside, I too completed end of November but waiting calmly to see when I get the £200. Co-op are good and I'd expect them to pay and if not, I send a strong letter and close the account and move on....with a pinch of salt of course!
