Be strong! I suggest you have a coppers jar and ceremonially transfer a penny to it every evening - then record it on a specially made chart.
Once the banks open again, bag it up (all 4p's worth), round up a friend who plays the trumpet and another who can do a drum roll, march into town (preferably flanked by more friends who will applaud and give wolf whistles) and pay it in.

And wolf whistle - :whistle:0 -
Ouch, good luck with the shopping! I need to venture out at some point today (although only for a minor shop fortunately) but the thought of battling through crowds and the pouring rain are not doing anything for my motivation.Savings target: £25000/£25000

Happy Christmas Eve
I think it could be time for some of this :xmastree:
or maybe some of that :snow_laug
I went shopping yesterday  It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and I didn't get grumpy once :T
The good news is that my darling sweetheart of a mum (who I took for protection) whipped out her debit card and paid for it for me
An early Christmas present she said
We did the usual 'you don't have to' and 'I want to' thing but I have to (shamefully) admit I didn't protest too hard
Am I a bad person?
I think I may have mentioned before that my parents are quite wealthy and would clear my debts without skipping a beat if I told them but I got myself into this mess and I will get myself out of it. They know I struggle and so try to help me out when I let them, so yesterday - I let them
I feel ever so guilty though
Don't judge me too harshly
I did have to nip back to Mr T later though to get a couple of bits I had forgotten (typical me) so I have contributed a little bit to the shop
So now, hopefully, there are several days of not spending a penny in front of me
If I don't post between now and probably tomorrow night when I am collapsed on the couch with my lappy on my knee, slightly squiffy and about half a stone heavier than I am now, I would like to say......
Thank you to you all for becoming my virtual friends over the last few months, for making me laugh, supporting, motivating and inspiring me. You have made the end of 2011 a much more happy and richer experience than I have had for a very long time.

My parents try to do that for us as well (bless them!) the only time we accepted was when Dr Dragon wasn't working and we needed help with the mortgage
, but paying for some nice Festive Food or some such thing means it is a treat and therefore should be enjoyed (in other words sit back and relax hun you deserve it!

.............and relax

It's over, and what a lovely time it was too. I hope all of you who read my wanderings had a brilliant, peaceful Christmas too
The kids had a great time and loved all their gifts and I don't think they noticed that the budget had been slashed this year. And everyone else seemed to like what I had bought them so I will count this first year of Christmas on a budget as a success :T My bank balance is counting it as a success too but I don't think the cc's are as they haven't had one single penny of my money this year :j
This year I will not be dreading the statements coming throught the letterbox and desperately trying to juggle money :j:j:j
Now down to a year of some serious debt busting. By the end of this year I aim to have paid off F/Mans (currently £122.93) Capital One CC (currently £1426.10) and if I'm very good Studio 24 (currently £217.07) and maybe maybe maybe Next (currently £496.98) It all seems so easy when writing it down but I have done my budget for the entire year (told you I'd miss the banks being open) and in reality it will be a bit of a slog
But this is my New Year resolution to myself. I will not give up in January and be back here in July moaning about my debts. This is one job that I will see right through to the very end.....
.......so I'm afraid you're stuck with me for a very long time :eek:Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
So some good comes out of it then?freebyfifty wrote: ».......so I'm afraid you're stuck with me for a very long time
Glad you had a nice Christmas - I worried whether ours would notice the smaller budget too, but apparently not. DS1 is wonderful to give gifts to - typical reaction, in tones of absolute delight and awe, is along the lines of 'Ooooh... that's brilliant! That's awesome! I've been wanting one of those! That's cool!' the others seem duly happy with their gifts too - phew!
Regarding pre-Christmas guilt at letting parents pay - my philosophy on parenthood is that it's successful if the kids become independent (which you obviously are) but then parents feel obsolete so it's nice if they can treat their kids from time to time. Also there are 'seasons' for these things, aren't there? Certain stages of life are bound to be more broke than others unless you belong to a super-rich family, and sometimes even then.
Right, I must buzz off for now, need to get ready to go out. I will be back to see how you New Year's Resolution is going, of course!Miggy
