Unpaid work trial day?

This stage? It wasn't a job offer only the 2nd interview. If I was interviewing at my last job & someone asked the salary in an interview they would not get a call back. I have been told never to ask as it gives the wrong impression. All the questions I asked were work related, not salary.
Potential problems? You all talk as if I have never had a job and that's not true, but still nevermind
Then you have been grossly misinformed! No of course you do not over-emphasise that the salary is the 'be all and end all', but any company worthy of decent staff would tell you the salary or expect you to ask...FGS why would any firm put someone in to do their accounts who hadn't the financial accumen to ascertain if the salary was suitable for them? ( Is this why you are no longer with your previous company perhaps?!)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

In the time I was there I contributed to finding a fraud of over £300k so I guess I wasn't very aware of anything
They took on a new accounts system that automated some of the work and 4 people were made redundant0 -
I am no longer with my previous company as they went from having 43 sites to 29 in a matter of 5 years and I dont think that was my fault as I do not run the company ."
No I am not suggesting it was your fault in any way...I am suggesting that a company that doesn't give ( or expect its staff to ask for) details of salary IS a company that is very badly run! If it went from 43 sites to 29 in 5 years that rather proves my point?
Ditch that bit of advice they doled out re NOT asking for salary details and show any future employer that you go to, that you have the sense to ask for YOUR benefit and THEIRS!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. You are mixing two jobs here
the one I worked for had 43 sites now 29 and two more closing soon to make 27, hence me not being responsible for anything but good there.
the one I went for the interview never told me what they would pay ME if I got the job but they have a salary scale but it could be anything if you got the job and you have no idea
anyway , no more comments thanks0 -
I would have been very interested in Employing you if I still had the firm.
Someone in charge of accounts who shoots from the hip and says it like it is without fear of upsetting people is mandatory in a good company, the last thing you need is a creep feeding you nonsense, if we spend too much or waste money I want an accounts manager that marches in the office with both barrels loaded, if someone is fiddling, you need an accounts manager who flips it over from under the stone.
A lot of companies will recognise your straight talking skills and they are skills in the day and age of blowing smoke up peoples backsides just to get on.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Unfortunately, she's not an accounts manager. Shes a purchase ledger clerk.
However, if she worked for me she wouldn't last long. I cannot abide sarcastic, stroppy people who cannot take constructive criticism. You had me at your proper use of "you're".0 -
Shes what every you describe her as if you employ her, accounts are accounts, the purchase ledger is just the name for the list of debtors and credit holders.
However even if the role were to be limited to such, what a great area to have someone no nonsense operating.
On a work trial, any company worth its salt would not expect anyone to work for free, they would at least pay you a days pay.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Sorry, have to disagree with the last line. I have had several interviews which have taken the form of a work trial day. One over 24 hours included all of the last candidates taken to dinner at a local pub/hotel and a full day being assessed the whole time. Another was 2 days with a colleague to be. While expenses were paid in advance (hotel, food etc.) there was no question nor mention of any pay involved, it was the recruitment policy.0 -
Not difficult to work out.
You say you don't want anymore comments, and yet you still can't help coming back for the last word! You had me at your proper use of "you're".0
