OP has been unemployed for what is it.. 67 weeks or something as said on another thread, and is moaning about being asked to do one day to see if they can get a job. I can't begin to understand that at all.

You'd think there would be some sort of, I don't know, allowance or something, for those seeking jobs to enable them to pay to get somewhere for a day's trial. A job-seeker's allowance, or something. What a great idea that would be....
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

So I say to them 'hey how much are you gonna pay me'? LOL

Sure and they say 'you haven't got the job yet so we have no idea'

    Troll? Er no

You say to them "What salary range do you have in mind for the successful candidate?" Though you have to be ready for the "What salary would you accept?" To which you answer something like "It depends on the benefit package, terms and conditions etc - what is the rough package you have in mind?" and if they insist give an approximate figure.

Unless you are prepared to accept minimum wage it helps to have some idea of the salary and package!

I'm not even sure if it is down to two or one now. They wanted to see the other person. I would assume they have seen them and are inviting OP as a final check to see if they are compatible with the team. I doubt much work will be involved
no it says to work the day

See how funny you are. A job seekers allowance is a 'LIVING ALLOWANCE'

It is the ammount the govenment say you need to LIVE on, not apply for work with as its not to look for jobs with!

Someone really should tell the government that - perhaps you could get a job as a government adviser?

    Well that's news to me!

What else are you going to use to cover the cost of stamps, printing, newspapers, phone calls etc for your job applications?

If I spend the £67 on job seeking what do I pay £300 of bills with?

you have to use your own money to do all that

Job centre told me you have to have 3 mths salary in savings to live on as expected by the govenment if you have worked and not been on beneifts

I use the digital newspapers, only send emails or faxes and the phone bill is paid as usual as I have to have the net and upgraded so I can have all day free calls and the net for £30 a mth
  • If you want to pay the bills, and like the idea of the job, do the trial.

If you've got job offers flowing out of your ears, don't do it. £10, even when you're skint, isn't that much to pay for the opportunity of a job; though it seems less a matter of that rather than you think your time is worth too much to be asked to work for nowt for one day.

    Look upon it as volunteering.

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

ask yourself this. Why does a couple who are claiming JSA get less that two single people? It's because they say its cheaper to live as a couple but if the JSA was meant to use to apply for work and travel to interviews then why are couples not entitled to the same as a single person (as previous individual tax payers) as indivudially they have to look for a job just like any other person.
