Well looking at my bank balance at the moment it looks like I have approx £600 left at the moment, I just hope I can get through the rest of the month without spending too much of it. I've been trying to think of ways of boosting income and reducing outgoings today as I had a day off. Productive things I've done today include - phoning the nursing agency I do overtime for to give them some days which I can work, so will just need to wait for them to get back to me with any shifts. I've got the number of a mobile hairdresser who I've been told is half the price of my current hairdresser, I've recently dyed my hair brown in hope that it will be less upkeep than my usual blond locks, but I will still need a regular trim and a mobile hairdresser will be really convenient so if its cheaper as well that a bonus. Husband is looking to buy into his share scheme at Johnson Matthey part of his wages will go directly into the share scheme but we don't know how long he has to have them before he can sell them on, if it's too long then I don't think it will be worth it as we need the money in the near future. Well let's just hope that tomorrow is as productive, I may go and sort the children's bedroom they have outgrown loads of clothes I could take the worn out ones to the clothes bank and make some extra money and possibly sell some on eBay, although I hate selling on eBay :-(
Hi Emmie, I also found out that a mobile hairdresser was actually cheaper than going to a normal hairdressers. I thought it would be dearer to get the girl to drive to my house and do just me, but I suppose they don't have the overheads that a shop would. My hair used to be £33 for a cut and blow dry. The mobile hairdresser does it now for £12.00! Yeah! Every little helps. :TCurrently debt free (for 4 years) - ISA Savings now £4,050.56Save 12k in 2012 Challenge - £3215.17 / 3000k (Member 159)

Ok, January's total: £150 into the car fund, £300 into the FD regular saver and (gulp) £500 into Tesco shares today - so £950/£12k. Not going to change for the rest of January unless there's an unforseen windfall, slightly behind the £1k a month target but onwards and upwards0

Woooop £96 in overtime received (after tax) so £596 transferred to the savings accounts. Added to quidco payment & interest received makes £609.88!
Yay! Our yearly target is 5k but we're going to stretch ourselves as much as possible, plus we want a little set aside for our holiday in Mexico in November :0)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
Well, the car fiasco (broken gearbox) cost us just over 1200, which has come out of last year's savings. However, aside from that we have managed to put some away (see sig). Swapping Tesco for Aldi seems to be the biggest change. Less beer for hubby and drinking Christmas present wine helping too. First Direct regular saver maturing this month. Going to start a new one: 8% interest! Pay day is just under 2 weeks away... wish it was sooner!0

Another £125 put in today, thanks to the council...although next month they will take the normal tax amount, then March is also 'free', so another £125 will be added then!!0

Not sure if this is relevant but it should result in being able to add £275 to my saving and thought others may want to check it out!
I have been considering changing my bank account for a few months with all the offers out atm and finally done it. Santander are offering £100 for switching and an extra £75 cashback if you go through Quidco (I have had read all the comments about the customer service and decided to go for it as a second account which I transfer £1000 into a month and for bills to come out). I don't plan on keeping the account long - just long enough for the £175 bonus to add to my savings!

I have also been looking at changing energy and finally gone for it also - this will result in saving over £100 in bills this year PLUS £100 cashback for going through Quidco.
Both offers are available for another 2 days!0 -
