  • Well done to everyone whatever you managed to save!

Due to a small inheritance payout right at the end of the year I managed to have my largest monthly total saved of £592.87.

Making the grand total: £3215.17 (member 159).

Cant believe it, didn't think it was going to happen in December of all months!

I'm afraid I won't be able to update until Tuesday as I'm away from my spreadsheet at the moment so couldn't tell you how much I've saved this month unit, I've updated that.

Thanks for all your efforts this year slowlyfading, just about to sign for your new thread and another year of saving!

Right, I had better balance the books so I can find out how much I can save this month. Thanks SL. I'm looking forward to see the final amount, surely we have broke the £700K barrier?

I'm going with £765 for my final month - spent more on Christmas than I should have! So I managed a grand total of 13364 this year, the most I have ever saved by miles!!!!

Well done to everyone this year and thanks to slowlyfading for setting this thread up. See you on the 2013 board!

    Managed to save another £50.

SF - can you put me down for £353 for the month of December. I updated once and then didn't think I could save anymore.

So 134 declaring final total of £3575.

Thanks so much. Fab job SF.

Ended up saving £1,473.51 in December, bringing the grand total of the year to £12,795.21 :) I'm very happy with that; it's more than I was expecting to save in 2012.

Thanks to SF for the great job in managing this challenge and see you all in the 2013 thread :)
  • I never officially joined this but saw the post last December and decided to try and save 10k. After rent (inc bills), car bills (had to replace my car) and petrol for work are taken into account it meant having to live on just over £300 a month. I did manage to sneak in 2 snowboard trips last winter too!

It's amazing what you can do without and provided I don't buy anything for the rest of today I'll have finished the year on £10,065 taking the house deposit fund to £34k.

In terms of balance I think 10k was pushing things a bit much, but for a year it didn't hurt and I'm well aware many people are forced to survive on less.

Congratulations to all in this thread. We did it! A year's savings now achieved.

I'm declaring my December savings as £541.81 which brings my 12 month total to
    £ 6009.64
which I'm very pleased about. I started the year with a planned savings goal of £3600. At that time I was thinking about all the likely commitments (particularly on house repairs) that I'd have to make. But then revised my goal up to £6000 in the summer. I'm going to have a go at saving £8000 next year.

I'd like to say THANK YOU to all the regulars in this thread. I have really enjoyed your inspiring posts throughout the year. And a particular thanks to Slowly Fading for keeping everything organised.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR
AND BEST WISHES TO ALL SAVERS IN 2013
