Have just submitted Nov & Dec figures and I'm v happy with this years effort - just over £20k :D

Who knows what 2013 will bring with the possibility of redundancy looming, but whats for us will not go by us, so onwards and upwards.
    Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000
    Current mortgage  £28,000

  • Well, I'm now up to £3800, so very happy. Beaten my £3000 target and on for hitting my new £4k target, hopefully. Looking forward to doing this next year again!

After a relatively poor October when I was a net spender, I have made up for it in November.

Helped by a nice little refund from HMRC, I have managed to save £3,059 in November, which I'm delighted about.

That brings my yearly total up to £16,169. Going to aim for £18k by the end of December, although a lot depends on how mad I go on Xmas presents!

Will update the signature... am in for 2013 thread as well!! :)

I had to hunt for this thread - eventually finding it on page 8 of the forum list. I can't remember any time throughout the year when it has dropped so far down. I guess its because the focus has already switched to the 2013 thread.

I'm reluctant to let this thread fizzle out, particularly as we're coming up to the last hurdle of a year's hard saving (at least it has been for me). So can I ask what people's plans are for their 2012 savings come the end of the month?

My plan is to roll the money over into long-term savings. I'm doing a bit of self-employed work at the moment, but when I fully retire in a few years time I will need my savings to work extra hard then.

But perhaps you've a more interesting or exotic destination for your savings?

I'm with you Snowgo - this thread has been so motivational and such a big focus fro me this last year! It would be a shame for it to die off in its last couple of weeks! I am still plodding on with the savings - It is the final hurdle and just longing for the 31st Dec to come by for me to make my final update for this thread!

I am actually quite emotional with regards to this thread.... It has really help me focus and kept me going on my frugal way of life! I am so grateful that I found it way back in October last year and signed up - cos I know I wouldnt have even saved half what I have done this year if it wasnt for this thread!

Well I am going to be house hunting in 2013 so my lovely money will be used to put down a deposit on a flat/house/cardboard box (London prices are crazy)!

I've already signed up for the 2013 thread - hopefully it will have the same affect on me next year as this one did on me this year!

Best wishes for everyone on this thread - I'm looking forward to seeing all our final totals being updated! x

I am planning to put most of mine into longer term savings come April (to add to my ISA). Some will be used to up the balance on my emergency fund. I am waiting until the end of February to see if I need anything before I commit all funds to savings (February is when my second regular saver ends. I didn't realise I would need it until I had already started this challenge:))
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000
  • Fell a bit short of my target of £6000 but at £5800 I'm actually proud of myself.

Money is going towards a car.
