Never thought I'd say this but i'm really looking forward to not spending!! To help my savings I need to give up smoking and for the first time I think I will def succeed in stopping (have tried a few times) because of this challenge. Really looking forward to this esp as Jan is the 'depressing' month of the year-not any more!!:j:j

Can I please join the challenge? I would like to save $12,000 in 2012 (I'm in dollars as I'm in Australia).
I can hopefully save $400 per fortnight from pay - so need to find another $1600 over the 12 months!
Had a bad year of saving - had to buy a new car and also just spent a small fortune on flights/accommodation to travel back to Europe next year to visit family.
Looking forward to the challenge!Saving hard for Financial Independence0 -

just wanted to say to everyone on the challenge to stock up things you might need for the next few months so you can save the money into your fund! I am going shopping on saturday to get stocked up on shampoo and conditioner and toiletries which are running low.
I dropped on 3 chicken for a fiver in the co-op today so got 3 of those for the freezer. Also xmas is under control, I have a ham in the freezer when Lidl was selling them cheap so just got to get a turkey crown and have crackers from last year, dont need much really.

Looking forward to this challenge!
I wish I had enough room to stock up on freezer goods - I can barely fit 3 chicken fillets in my tiny freezer never mind 3 whole chickens!
Good idea about stocking up on everything just now though - think I need to write a list of stuff I'll need. Was hoping I would manage use free samples for the entire year (mini toothpaste and shampoos! lol).
Good luck for the challenge! x0 -
Hi everyone,
Stepping out of lurkdom to ask if I can join this challenge? I'm hoping to achieve £12000!

Is there any way you could get a bigger freezer? Maybe off freecycle? It would certainly save money when you come across food bargains and help with budgetting.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I have been scrutinising my budget for 2012 since signing up for the challenge last week to see where I can cut things out or down. Food spending is one area I really need to tackle again.
What I also need to find is other sources of income so a bigger proportion of what I earn from my full time job can be used for savings. I am thinking ebay and surveys for vouchers to use for gifts etc but haven't got much further than that tbh:rotfl:Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
I am just going to go all out for my £15k....wild party at xmas 2012 if i hit it...sorry WHEN i hit itWork in progress...Update coming July 2012.
