Hi all
As I posted last month I've had a lot of work done on my house, but now all the scaffolding is down, it is looking wonderful. I've spent some money on plants and things to improve the garden so just an average (for me) saving this month of £300 is the amount I'm posting for May.
I've done no ebay sales in May due to house upheaval, but hope to do some in June to bump up my savings total and declutter a bit more.
Great to catch up with everyone's news:
alionaear I bit the bullet some years ago with DS going to independent school, as he has attention deficit disorder and was struggling at state school. It was financially crippling for a good number of years, even though I was working full time then and earning a good wage. But I can hand on heart say it was the best money I have ever spent. He was so much happier, got some great exam results, and without them probably wouldn't have a job anywhere near as good. Although your DD's situation is different, I'm sure you won't regret it.
allie congrats on paying off your mortage.
dp1985 well done on saving so much.
slowlyfading just want to say thank you for your overall positivity (and the hard work with spreadsheet updates). It's uplifting reading this thread.0 -

Little update from me!
I have now saved over £8000 of the £12000! I thought I would really struggle to hit 12k, but im currently over target, and very proud of myself indeed!
Lovely hearing of all your saving successes! Well done everyone!0 -
Can I be added to challenge?
I am a student 20 years old and have managed to save £7500 this year so far, I have had no job so that is just spare student loan and me making money on eBay and on line business.
Plan to get that up to 10k by August, Doing allot of Car boot sales and more eBay activity. Also is my 21st so should get some birthday money.
Just got a job paying only 12k a year ( uni placement for 2 years )
I want 25k saved by 2014 - Very hard target but If I work hard I can do it. This is for deposit on apartment.0 -
Just reported for the last couple of months - phew an extra £2300 ish which I feel isn't bad considering I've been paying for my holiday too!
By now I should be halfway there to the £12k, so still behind but making the most of the cheap Euro, which has saved me a good few hundred quid on my holiday costs as paying for my villa etc in Euros, wahay!
The mobile phone cashback is rolling in at £65 every couple of months, plus making the most of the Top Cashback site for holiday and general stuff (£112 and counting!). They know me by name in Lidl now but certain other supermarkets are bombarding me with money-off vouchers etc in an effort to woo me back. Maybe I'll take what's on offer then return to the cheap shops later on....MFW Aug16/ £134,400 Sep16/ £132,900 Oct16/ £130,900 Nov16/ £129,731.15 Jan17/ £127,735.84 Feb17/ £125,701.24 Mar17/ £123,997.26 May17/ £122,493.31 Jun17/ £120,985.20

Sorry Slowlyfading I've been AWOL for a bit. Just updated the last two months:
April £432
May £330
Bringing my total so far to £1721 which is a long way off my £5000 target.
Have been feeling a bit disheartened with saving at the moment, it's a strain living with my OH's parents and feeling like we're going without all of the time. After a mini-crisis last week we have decided to move back into rented and spend a little on a holiday in August. I have been unwell for nearly a year now and OH is suffering with the stress of it so we decided to put ourselves first for a bit. I aim not to dip into my savings but probably won't be adding to them for a while but feel this is the right thing to do.
Hope everyone else is having more success"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012Married 2015
