So, if all the kis 'hit back' all bullying would stop?
Okay, I wonder why the schools don't just do that ... that would be a new and novel anti-bullying policy ... 'Everybody just hit them!'
Yeah, I can't think why they haven't thought of that.
Might do them the world of good to know they'll get a battering from everyone if they carry on bullying!
One thing I do know is that if you rely on the school to sort out bullying, it won't happen in the vast majority of cases.0 -
Enough that I'm going to do it my way and not argue about it.I think it would be nice to worry about others a little bit too, don't you think? How far do you only worry about your own?
You do what you want with your kids.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Okay. But kid 'A' is bullied by kid 'B' so Kid 'A' gives kid 'B' a poke in the eye. Kid 'C' says to kid 'A' 'That's my mate you just bullied' and gives kid A a good hiding. Parents of kid 'B' and 'C' say, 'Serves that kid 'A' right, he got just what he deserved.'0 -

I was bullied at school and was told not to hit back, so I didn't. It did me good though. Years of hell good. You're nice to know.
So yes, I am nice to know and I'm damn sure my kids are going to be able to protect themselves and have my backup when they do.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

In this case they don't appear to have an effective anti-bullying policy at all.
What would you suggest? It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -

Does it never occur to you she may get hurt?
What happens, when as a teenager with a reputation for being a fighter, she gets beaten up by two or three others and nobody sees her as a victim but somebody who has been a 'fighter' since she was a nipper?0 -

Making lots of noise and forcing the school to take responsibility. They have to have an anti-bullying policy. They have a duty of care. Failing that, I'd remove him from the school.
I'm not saying it's easy. I removed my child from school. Personally I think hitting back is simply the easiest, short term option, but it carries an element of risk, both to their safety and their reputation.0 -

The OP's made the noise, the school will not take responsibility.
Removing the child potentially causes more harm both emotionally and educationally. It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0
