OS-wise, I teach kids cookery lessons all day long. Doesn't get much more OS than that!!!
I have 6 chickens, an allotment that is proving challenging (has it been a bad year for HG veg or is it just me?), make my own bread, jams, chutney etc. I use HM cleaning products (thankyou Rhonda-Jean), cook everything from scratch, budget carefully, use up EVERYTHING in the kitchen, squash toilet rolls, squeeze toothpaste tubes, hang washing on the line (be gone, dratted tumble drier and a curse on your cycle......). Ummmmm, what else.
Oh, yes I am in luuuuuuurve with HFW (and Neil Oliver, the chap from 'Coast' - must be all that hair)
Have to agree bad year for veggies here too - fed up with it  As for Neil Oliver - the voice and the hair are soo good, can watch him for hours, in fact Oh takes the mickey and mutters 'Coast again' :rotfl:Clearing the junk to travel light

My shopping trip proved successful.
I got- 2 men's t-shirts
A purple men's jumper
3 ladies jumpers (two purple and one green)
A black skirt
A thin black cardigan
A winter coat for my nephew
Two black handbags
Two t-shirts for my nephew
Five pairs of thick patterned tights
and two other things I can't remember off the top of my head....Grand total £16:T
It's one of those situations where I didn't really have the money right now, but I would have kicked myself if I hadn't brought the things at that price. It's a couple of Christmas presents sorted for a start and a few more things for my wardrobe.
Later I'm going to walk down to the local village with my friend and I'll see if they have some more cheap wool in the charity shops.
Hope the sun is shining where you all are. Take care xxxxx0 -
DH: Does that mean pie??? (said with hopeful grin)
Me: No, you had pie on Tuesday. Anyway, fridge isn't empty there is one cooked chicken drumstick left over from last night.
DH: Well I wouldn't put it past you to make a meal for 3 out of that, and knowing you, the cat will probably get a mouthful too.
So what do you think ladies? so far I'm thinking along the lines of shredding the meat, removing a mouthful for Susie the cat and mixing the rest with sweetcorn to make fritters, but if any of you have a better idea I am all ears....we are sharing that chicken drumstick come hell or high water!!!!
I think your OH is right, sounds like pie to me
Good luck with the results, will be thinking of you.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

HG veg have been pretty poor here too this year...I've had some decent carrots, but even the courgettes were finished before I was begging them to stop! That IS a first.

Good things this year were potatoes and onions but not much else. A few carrots. There are some cabbages and parsnips at the lottie but again, not many.
chicken curry?0 -
Taurus I'm sure the results won't be as bad as you fear. Keep calm and carry on as we say in OS
Sending you love & light x

Hello newbies and de-lurkers, welcome to the madhouse
Taurusgb, good luck with your results on Monday. Enjoy your first date repeat!
Feeling a bit sad because the bloke came today to take the hens' stuff to the animal rescue centre, so it's all gone now except for the big things like the house and the pen, which I will try and sell once I have cleaned them. Still waiting for the vet to get back to me and tell me what the best disinfectant to use is.
My Mum (and several friends) have banned me from going to the animal shelter personally, just in case I cave in and come back with another critter. However I am, for once, letting my head rule my heart.
No funny stuff to report today, I'm afraid .... life has been very normal for the last few days! Still, I'm sure it is only a matter of time before some eccentric person wanders into my life :rotfl:I am going to return the book to its owner this weekend. I had left it on the sofa but luckily remembered to hide it before my dogwalker saw it ......Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Well...I won my E-bay bid so got DD an Xmas pressie I think she will love for £3.99 including the postage. It's a Poole pottery pin tray with a picture of deer on, I got myself one with an owl on earlier in the year and I use it to throw my jewellery onto when I take it off. It's green too - her favorite colour.
I've now made four bags out of these cotton offcuts and some lining fab I had left over from some curtains. I'm going to get the overlocker out now and see if I can use that for part of the process. I bought it two years ago, and it's not had much use so far - I've just not had time! But long overdue that I got to grips with it.
OH popped back for lunch, he's working locally. There was pasta left from last night and we both had that. DS said last night he could take a pasta salad to college in a box some days 'couldn't he?' Of course he can...:rotfl: but if I'd suggested it, it would have been the dumbest thing he'd ever heard! I need to get him a heavy duty box though as it'll be slung in a bag with his steel toecap booties
I've defrosted three small packs of chicken breasts for dinner tonight, and I thought I'd make some sort of curry. All of them were reduced when I bought them. Hopefully I can stretch it to do two meals for the three of us, then no cooking tomorrow :j
I need to have a poke around in the fridge to see if I need anything when I pick DS up from the bus in town tonight? Don't want to waste a journey, and do NOT want to stand in Mr T on Saturday! Milk is the only thing off the top of my head. I've actually had quite a few NS days this week, which is brilliant! Wonder if I could 'do' a whole week?

I've had a mixed year fror HG veg - my courgetes are actually still growing albeit slowly now apart from the one in the ground not a pot which went really weird and grew multiple stems which all sort of joined together in one big mutant plant! It produced a grand total of 3 courgettes! I had loads of toms but none ripened on the plant but are doing well in a paper sack inside and conveniently ripening a few at a time. My salad leaves and chard did well, so did my peas, potatoes and garlic and I managed my first ever decent sized beetroots but several things bolted at inexplicaple times. I got a load of cheap Autumn planting plugs off ebay and they seem to be taking well so we shall see what the winter and spring brings. Might have neglected a few things at one point or another but I do have a 5 month old excuse for that and he's growing like a weed as is his big sister! Speaking of weeds why is it that the things you don't want to grow shoot up twice as fast as the things you do want?0

I'm amazed to say I'm feeling remarkable bright eyed and bushy tailed despite lack of sleep. Shopping bought, a couple of whoopied loaves I'd never buy at full price, meds and dog food collected from vets and washing done. Only mad mutt to take for long walk soon. It's his mission in life to keep me fit, he's the one in my avatar.
I completely agree about telling your family your wishes for your funeral. When I had an operation a few years ago I made a CD of the music I wanted, Comfortably Numb (I hope I will be) by Pink Floyd and Ozzy Osbourne, Dreamer. Having been to several funerals since, I've told DH I'd like a Humanist service although I consider myself a deist. The one I attended was so personal to the deceased, it was lovely. My dogs are and will be buried in the garden and so I'd also like the Pan Ayres poem Bonemeal, read at my funeral:
Bury me among my dogs
The dogs I loved and knew
So that, as in life
They would have a bone to chew
Would be a heck of a lot cheaper if they could, but I'll have to settle for my ashes scattered with them. DH thinks I'm barking mad by the way, can't think why .
On the subject of Neil Oliver, did anyone see him last night talking about the remains of an iron age ship? He was so excited it was infectious, and I went all weak at the knees :rotfl:. Tonight I can gaze happily at Martin on Autumn Watch - bliss.
My very best wishes for good results on Monday Taurusgb, and hope you have a lovely romantic weekend.
Well best get on as muttles is looking bored. A1's tummy is gurgling so I'd better get him out for a potter too."It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Unknown0
