Do the council still give those B&Q vouchers for paint and stuff when you move in. I know they did 3 years ago, when me and my dad first moved into this property but I don't know now :S
Can you see the council offices from under your little bridge? If so, toddle off down there and ask 'em0 -

There are plenty of careers where a bolshy attitude and the ability to argue a point without recourse to insinuations about an individuals personal circumstances, or resorting to crass generalisations, are seen as prerequisite. Perhaps you should try it, as your current performance seems to be doing little to assist you in the employment stakes, does it?
yes, i'll agree that there is a stereotype of the council house tenant as a workshy !!!!less layabout that spends all day posting on internet forums. and you know what, there is a certain amount of truth in that stereotype. before you get all defensive i know plenty council house tenants that are solid decent working people. but we've all watched jeremy kyle and everyone knows that a portion of council house tenants are scum.
i've been sent a job offer this morning, i'm looking forward to working again. i just don't know how people can spend years on the dole when they could be working. how can any guy have self respect knowing that teenage girls/ disabled/ pensioners are working and paying tax, just so they can sit at home collecting benefits. i've no problem with people claiming benefit, but some people think doing a days work is beneath them.0 -

I work full-time and am not a chav relying on the state. I am just applying for a council property because I need to move down beeston (an hour away from my home now).
The council used to give vouchers whether you worked or not, it was irrelevant. Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0 -
Not sure on councils. I work for a HA, we issue decorating cards on new tenancies where decoration is required. This is on an amount per room. We only issue where the decoration is in a very poor state, i.e. yellow stained ceilings/woodwork or the decoration is not solid, i.e. half the wallpaper has fallen off.
We do not issue where the decoration is just not to the new tenant's taste. So the walls might be bright pink but if it's in good nick - tough. Or if it's old hideous flowery wallpaper but it's clean and in good condition - again, tough0 -

Get off your fat lazy arese and go and get a job you work shy free-loader....plenty of jobs out there if you want one,so go and sort yourself out and get one.....scrounger.....
hows that for typical stereotype.....you are a buffoon...
but a few years on the dole might change your views...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
the way the state squanders money shocks me. it's the sense of entitlement of council house tenants that annoys me.
It certainly explains the current govt debt problems and how some cuts could be made very easilyRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

You mean like all the would be homeowners who are complaining because they don't have a big enough deposit or cannot get a mortgage? Is that a "sense of entitlement" too?
Or the private tenants complaining about the state of their home asking what repairs the LL is legally bound to do? Is that a "sense of entitlement" too?
Seems to me that you may be a little bit biased against social housing tenants.0 -

Good luck with joining the army of the employed. Perhaps a few weeks of crawling out of bed before noon and missing Jeremy Kyle might help you deal with all that bitterness you feel.0
