Oh my word, it's four days since I posted. V naughty. I am still MSEing though and have logged on everyday to see how everyone else is getting on.

Good Things since I last posted:j
    • Have got new dishwasher.:j Integrated, mostly fitted (there may be a bit more swearing from Mr Banwa to come:rotfl:), £230 including 5 year warranty which is not bad I think (ex-display, so good deal, maybe the MSE Gods were smiling on me again yesterday)
    • Bathroom door frame finally painted
    • Big patch behind fridge that I missed painted
    • Bannister retouched
    • All washing and ironing done
    • Door handle ordered
    • Mr Banwa potentially going to get some weekend work until his work starts to pick up again. Plus his work does look a little busier next week
    • Spends (apart from dishwasher) feel under control.
    • Have survived another weekend with the teenage stepchildren without bankrupting ourselves on food :D
    • Picked up newly framed print. It looks gorgeous:)
    • Only bought food once from canteen in last 8 (working) days
Bad Things since I last posted:exclamati
    • Dishwasher does set us back on the debt free journey, meaning that we won't reach our stretch target of paying £2k before Christmas. In actual fact, we weren't going to hit that anyway with Mr Banwa's reduced hours, but it does rather compund the problem.
    • Only exercised once instead of the three times I promised:o
    Spends
    Thursday- Sainsbury's - groceries £21
Friday Sainsbury - Alcohol 10, Pet food 9, Cleaning and toiletries 6.19, Groceries 34.81
    Aldi - Alcohol 10, Groceries 11
Saturday Dishwasher £230 Door handle £4
Petrol (Mr Banwa's so unsure when, just saw it when i logged onto bank) £30

Am going to review weekly grocery spends since I started this to try and update my spreadsheet. I think the past few weeks spends should be indicative of the next few months, we haven't been extravagent and we haven't 'gone without'. I want to pay this debt but I don't want us to be miserable doing it.

    Will post again soon

    Banwa:)

  • Hi Banwa,

Sounds like you have had a very productive couple of days :D The dishwasher is a necessary evil :o and with all the running around you have done, you have probably done 3 times worth of exercise ;)

Different people have different journeys and I am with you in the sense that I need to have some life in the debt free journey or I would just be miserable :o
    Just keep swimming!

Just de lurking to say I am very impressed you paint behind your fridge! I couldnt do without my DW either and last year we dug the car out of the snow that was up to the window sills in order to drive into the nearest town to buy a DW on 22.12.10 - no way was I going through Christmas without one :)

Just to say just spend a good half hour reading your diary, seems to be going well. Your get there :-)

I'll keep watching your progress, encouraging me to spend less as well!! :D
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)
  • I would have bought the new dishwasher too! So money well spent i'd say ;)

You've been doing really well, keep it up :)

The old dishwasher IS evil. I pushed it out the back door on Sunday night and it bit me! On the finger!

Oh Igamogam, I don't paint behind my fridge, that's the reason I had to do some patching up because the fridge repositioned itself and the unpainted wall/my shoddy workmanship was fully exposed. Naughty Banwa:D

I looked for your diary too but you don't have one. Having to log my spends here really makes me think about everything I spend. I just wish I'd done it sooner. :)

    • Mr Banwa has plenty of hours this week, plus he will be out in his lorry every night. Triple bonus, he gets paid for it, I don't have to cook for him and I get to watch whatever telly I like.:D
    • Lovely MIL gave Mr Banwa a cheque for £150 when he went to see her as an early Christmas present and to 'soften the blow' of the new dishwasher. They're not particularly well off, but Mr B is their only child so they do this sort of thing every now and then. They're so kind:)
    • Best of all -I have talked to my eldest sister tonight about all our debt woes, because I feel so guilty and ashamed it was making me lie to her and be sneaky. I thought she would be disapprove but I needed to tell her anyway; but she was so lovely and supportive and understanding, I feel like a weight has been lifted. It has steeled my resolve that this debt will be gone now. I made no such commitment to her, but now I have told her, I feel like she will want to hear the words 'we are debt free'.

  • Banwa I am going to have to beat you with the norty stick :D

Although, I am in the camp that has to have a little luxury in the journey as I am going to be doing it for so long that life could be miserable if I stopped everything. :D

As I sit here with my BT vision box, I really can't bring myself to throw a hulking great stone at your glass house! ;)

Anyway, with better tv provision, you may both spend more time entertained indoors which, in turn, may well save you money....see, we can MSE anything if we try hard enough!! :rotfl:
