Pipex switching to TalkTalk, contract void ?

I had a letter today from Talktalk saying from November 7th all pipex accounts will be switched to Talktalk, and there are some changes.
One of these changes is that from 7th November there will be a 40GB per month data cap.
I currently have a unlimited data package and 5 months remaining on my Pipex 12 month contract, surely they are breaking the contract ?

You have the option to not accept the revised terms and migrate to another ISP with no contract cessation fees. If TT try to tell you otherwise they are lying.0

Take advantage and leave both firms if you can!0

HI Metrobus,
As Bod has correctly advised if you do not agree with the newly proposed terms of the contract you do not have to go ahead with this.
If proposed contract chages are determined to be at your detriment then no cessations fees would be applied.
However it sounds as if the migration of your account is being matched to the Essentials package. We do also offer a boost for £5 which can be added to this package to give upto 80gb download allowance.
Alternatively the TalkTalk Plus package is not restricted in the monhtly amount you can download, subject to the fair usage policy.

What does that exactly mean please Mark ?
Who should I phone to sort this out Pipex or Talktalk.
Also can I only leave after November 7th when the new terms come into force ?0 -
Your "get out of jail" period starts when you receive notification of the change, not from when the change takes place. So if you want to leave, do it now/soon.0

Had this letter also and phoned to cancel.
Got a new modem out of them, plus half price broadband for 12 months on the plus package:
"Unlimited Broadband INCLUSIVE Anytime Calls
for the first 12 months then £14.50 £7.25 Line rental £13.80"
So, £21.05 p/m for 12 months, but better contract than before with lots of free boosts (plus free modem). Only very slightly higher than before, but getting more. No set up charges or cancelling charges and email confirming as back-up, saves moving to Orange as planned (existing mobile user).

HI Metrobus,
What i mean by the quoted comment is that TalkTalk Offer Two Packages. One is called Essentials (which is an evening and weekend call package, with Broadband and 40gb limit). Which is what you appear to be describing.
We also have another package called Plus (anytime call package with unlimited BB, subject to fair usage).
When any migrations occur there may be changes to the tariff. These are matched as best possible to your current tariff. If the proposed changes are not suitable you can excercise your right not to go ahead with the proposed changes.
With respect to contact you would use the Pipex contact details prior to the completion of migration, TalkTalk details following (although I anticipate re-directs of old numbers will be put in place).

I would like to move to another supplier and have been told that because TalkTalk have LLU, I would need to move back to a BT line. I'm currently a Pipex customer and will only become a TalkTalk customer because of the takeovers, Toucan, Pipex etc. At no point was I told that our line was taken off of BT. Why should I pay what could be £120 and get locked into an 18 month contract with BT or £60 and a 12 month contract with the Post Office in order to get my line back to BT when I had no knowledge or control over it moving in the first place?0

Because the T&C's do allow them to LLU your line.
If you go back to BT on a return to donor there is no charge, but you will have to take a 12m line rental contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop

But is your Pipex connection now on TT LLU? Or is it still currently via BT IPStream?
Call 17070 on your phone - if you only get read back your phone number then you're on TT LLU. If you get other options then you're on BT IPStream and you only need a MAC from TT to migrate to another provider - your line is not LLU.0
