I wish overtime was optional in my job. Sadly in haulage, it's par for the course.

I'd give my right arm to only have to do 15 hrs a month instead of 20hrs a week.

    :(

If someone wants a job with plenty of overtime, a career in road transport is the way to go.

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Thought I'd ressurect this - cause I need a moan!

Well, I've been quiet this month... because what with the school holidays, its been all hands to the pump at work to cover for the parents with kids taking holidays. I've worked 3 weekends out of 4, and realised £1000 (pre tax) for it, which should get paid next month... That's going half to clear my credit card, and half to replace my aging cooker and worktops in the kitchen, and give the whole flat a coat of paint.

This month coming, Ive been offered another two weekends plus several nights. However, I've worked over 60 hours a week for the past two months and Im mentally knackered... not to mention harming my personal relationships.

Give me strength to do this one more month... the credit card will be gone and I'll stop, I promise!

    I'll help bump this one.

I did 2 hours last week, not a great amount, but don't get much chance, so get it while I can, along with trying to get a second job.

I'll keep an update when I get something.

  • i know this is an old thread but i've decided to go for it again and thought i would give other people the chance to join and support each other if they are doing the same thing.

at the moment i don't get as much OT as i used to so i'm planning on doing at least a sat or sun evry week. my overtime period runs from 17th to the 16th of the following month for my pay on the 27th of each month.

aiming to do an average of 30 hrs extra but will hopefully do more if availabel during the week.

so far this month i have completed 26 hrs as managed to get ot during the week and will have some next week as well.
