I didn't know there was an alternative to Tall Trees (which I really don't fancy!) so that's great, thanks! Good tip about going to the bar there too, will suggest that as if it was own idea! ;)

LOL Archers, it was the same when I was a yoof! Girls I knew would go every weekend with their fake ID... I was always too scared in case I got turned away, I was a very young looking 17! I seem to remember them going on Friday nights as it was free drinks or something? I went once I think and thought it was rubbish! :)

It's a hotel mostly. An absolutely huge one they can do up to 5 weddings at once. And then in addition there is the club. It's a crazy business, on it's own in a field near a suburb, not within walking distance of other pubs, and an absolute rabbit warren inside. I just can't get why any bride would want to get married in a 1980s neo-Georgian wedding factory with no grounds and a night club so loud the wedding night will be spent looking for ear plugs. My God I'm old!

We must be aging at the same rate Dinah as secretly I can't be bothered with tomorrow night at all! Have to stay at SIL's as it's so far away from mine which means I can't sneak home at midnight! :o I don't like clubbing anymore, it's too loud and there are so many kids about I feel ancient! And I don't want to drink too much as trying to cut back a lot (both for health and financial reasons!) but how lame will that sound? 'No thank you, I'll pass on the shot as I'm a miserable cow'?! Ooooh I'm sounding old and grumpy now! :o

If you want a club at the end of the night The Keys is better than Tall Trees - for a start Tall Trees is a canny walk or taxi ride away, and generally full of teeny boppers with fake ID throwing up over a bawling bride or three. For a drink most of the pubs are nice but just that, pubs. For cocktails go to Hide (I don't think it's currently burnt down although they have a track record) which is down a little alley of shops with the post office next to Strickland & Holt. For pubs there is The Black Bull, George & Dragon and Union Arms. For the life of me I can't remember which is which once inside as they're all pretty generic local pubs but very busy on a weekend. You can drink in the bar underneath The Keys to cut the queue for entry upstairs.

  • I'm off to the fireworks tomorrow night. You've got to love the colours and everyone going 'Ooooo' 'Arrrrr' :)

I'm gutted that the one near my house has stopped. Just because the locals couldn't handle bad parking for one night. One night! Oh well, the one we are going to is cheaper anyway!

On a MSE note - I met my mum for lunch today (free eats!) and got interest in my current account of £1.23! That means that I've been in credit more than debit this month! If I can make it another 11 days without going into my overdraft, I won't get charged any fees! :D

LOL NIM, that's usually my OH's response when I announce that we're taking in a stray too! :rotfl:

I'm sure I'll be fine but thank you. :) I need to suck it up; I'm sure we'll have great fun, normally the nights you're dreading end up being the best ones... I hope! :)

Yay for the free eats and the interest Greenie! We were supposed to be getting free eats at the in-laws last night, I invited ourselves for tea, as I do because I'm a cheeky mare, but OH is not used to just going for tea at his parents as he's normally working so insisted on taking beer and mince pies... would have cost less to eat at home! ;)
