Went out at lunchtime and spent the first £12.89 of my £50 grocery budget this month. I feel quite cheated to be honest as £8.40 was spent on tin foil trays. At least it means we can freeze some more meals but I am already panicing about actually sticking to this limit. Already thinking I might up it to £100, and if we come in under than thats cause for celebration rather than chastising myself for not sticking to such a small level. Am mostly being convinced by it being pumpkin season, which I love, and I want to buy a few big ones to make soup but this could ruin the budget.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hi, hope you don't mind me butting in, I read or try read your diaries as I think you lot are brilliant and the amount of debt Dinah and NIM have paid off is impressive!
Finally tho I might have something useful to say re fixing the car! If the scratches aren't too bad you could use T Cut, I have used it many times to cover up marks on mine and my Mum's car. Its sort of like polish that dissolves the paint to fill the scratch, it works really well, much better than I am making it sound honest. Google it!
And Dinah, take it easy for a bit!!

Definitely up the food budget - I spend more than that a month and I really only buy the stuff to go in my packed lunches and a few other bits - it's certainly not the whole budget for the two of us in the house. Re the tin foil trays - are these reusable? If not would you be better off investing in some decent klik-lok (whatever it is!) tupperware?
Lara I hope the cooking and crafting involves sausages and a pancil caseEnjoy!
Dinah It's back to that money-happiness balance thing over and over again, what makes you happier, a dreary but well paid day job that lets you go on lots of holidays and enjoy your off time, or being happy all the time with a less well paid but enjoyable day job but not getting the new clothes and holidays etc.
This is it though, my current job isn't THAT well paid (well it's OK, but compared to rocketing prices of everything else) - look at me I can't even afford to rent somewhere without counting every single penny so taking a pay cut isn't really an option if I ever want to get out of my Dad's house.Dinah Anecdotally I can tell you your sewing skills could make big money on ebay with costumes, corsets and specialist cross-dressing femme clothing in male measurements..... if any of these floats your boat!
Shame the FuFu Fashion name is taken really! You have a lot of confidence in me if you think I could sew a corset!!
I am going to look for some careers guidance though, but just feel as though I bever have the time to even think about any other careers let alone do actual proper research into it!
EDIT - How exciting to see Buffy here! They sell T-Cut in Boyes I think - never knew what it was though!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Its for pre-preparing meals to just bung in the oven on an evening, tupperwear doen't handle 180 for 45 minutes very wellTete_en_l'Air wrote: »They sell T-Cut in Boyes I think - never knew what it was though!

Yayyy!! It does Tete, I just need to get a zip and some meat.
Hmm... that sentence sounded very wrong :rotfl:
Tete, you should be in a job that pays a lot more! Can you use your uni careers service?:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

NIM has got it on the head - we have lots of tupperware but I'm keen to make some lasagne's and things he can just throw in the oven from frozen, so doesn't have to cook every night yet we'll still end up with a healthy meal. I was stood in good old Boyes and they had stoneware dishes of a similar size for £1.49 each - I did briefly consider getting them and covering with tin foil rather than using the disposable dishes, but the cost outlay would be pretty huge.
I'm not going to attempt to get involved in T-cut talk - that's a NIM thing. Hi though BuffyDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

How many tin foil trays did you get for £8.40?! Hope it was plenty!
LOL Tete, you also 'bever' have enough time... is that because you're busy beavering away at work?!
Also LOL at Lara's odd sentence! You're lucky we know what you're on about!
Buffy, you have to stick around as you've got the greatest name!
Popped to town at lunch to get pink tights for tomorrow ('Wear it Pink' day for Breast Cancer) and they had a promotion running, spend £30 on a giftcard and get a £5 voucher free. I've been eyeing up some shoes anyway and it's only a matter of time 'till I cave and buy them so got a giftcard, used the £5 voucher to get my tights (2 pairs for £8 so paid £3 for a pair of pink and a pair of purple, I'm going to have super fun legs!) and now I can get the shoes I want, which I think are down to £20 so I can be cheeky and save the remaining £10 on the card and give it to SIL as part of her Christmas present!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Ooh loads going on today. Don't think it would ever occur to me to fix car scrapes, I like to think they add character! but my car was ancient.

Good work on the business stuff nim!
