Exciting stuff about the craft stalls Dinah and Beccie! What kind of things do you make and sell Beccie?
I'd like to sell my crafty stuff one day, maybe if I make things for a full year I'll get enough to fill a table!
Saying that, my wedding scrapbook is finally on the go again, I've made another 4 pages! Only got about 6-8ish pages left and it'll be finished and I can finally show it off!
Great to see you back Lara! Hope you had another great trip!
Where's Poddle got to?! I miss her!
I was so proud of myself yesterday; we've got a badminton singles ladder at work now and I challenged a girl 3 places above me yesterday and won! :j I'm the first person to actually move up on the ladder as all of the previous games have been won by the higher player anyway, so go me!Makes quite a difference to a few weeks ago when it was implied by some of the men that I'm a worse player than one of the other ladies whom I knew I was better than. Not only did I whoop her last week and retain my place above her but I've now moved up out of her reach! So there, naysayers!

Well done on the badminton victories Birdie
I sell under the name Plain Pretty Vintage. It's the usual crafty stuff with lots of lace and chintzI do jewellery, decorative wreaths, brooches, fascinators, hair clips, bunting etc. Luckily a friend does similar stuff so she joins me when I don't have enough to fill a table or want some company. She makes teacup tealights, cake stands and framed prints etc.
I decided as it's leading up to Xmas now (is it ok to say that word yet?!) to make gift tags too. I've made over 300 of them the last couple of nights and I'm sick of them
I'll be stitching a sample of the mini bunting that I'm making into make your own kits tonight. Hopefully it will be a quiet night at the pub as I'm working there tonight as well, so need to serve beer and sew :rotfl:
It's defnitely all go in the lead up to doing a stall!
You should defnitely do one Birdie, your papercraft stuff is lovely.Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Your stuff sounds lovely Beccie, have you got pictures to share?
I'm absolutely definitely NOT tempted by the thought of your fascinators and hair clips!
I do have some ideas of what I'd sell should I do a fair but I just don't know... I guess I should sit and make some bits and see if I make enough worthy of a fair. Not long to get working on it though!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I haven't and my Etsy shop has only one item
Need to get to work on that! I will take some pictures of the stall on Saturday and then post them Monday if that's ok.
What sort of things do you think you will make?
I found booking the fair and making the stuff after stops me procrastinating as much!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Lol the organiser put out the call with the immortal words 'I can't find anyone, if you know anyone who can make things to sell ask if they'll take a table'...so far no one has told me the price of the table. I'm assuming it'll only be £5 or so otherwise I'd know about it.
Good idea on having one or two bigger bits though, will try to work something out. This was quite honestly a mad idea given right now the only things I have finished are dozens of paintings which are pretty damaged from not having a permanent home.
£5 is good, I'm paying £37 for the one on Saturday
It might seem a mad idea but I'm sure you can do it, you're very creative
You could make some fabric hearts....:rotfl:Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Please do post pictures!
I think I'd probably make mini albums, special cards, scrapbook style photo mounts, a little crayon art (since I love mine so much) etc; the same kind of stuff I'd make for myself and friends anyway.I just don't seem to get much chance to sit and make loads of things at once, by the time I've dug out everything I want to use it's time to put it all away again!
My mind is reeling with ideas now though... when I get home tonight I think it'll be a case of getting through my chores in super quick time then getting my craft on!

I'm lucky as I managed to prise OH out of the spare room, that had become boy gaming room, and turn it into a craft room. Much easier when I don't have to put things away.
Keep us updated - would love to see what you make. Sounds like stuff I would definitely buy!
Pictures of yours too please Dinah(Demanding? Me?!)

I did have our spare room as my craft room, but it was too cold and dark to sit in there for hours on end so I moved the desk into the living room, it's a much nicer room to hang out in although it does mean I have to be tidier (which is always a struggle for me!)Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Thanks for this. I have gone back and added more in, the boxes seem geared for as little information as humanly possible, so I did wonder if they'd just ignore any additional information or refuse us on the basis that our application didn't fit in the boxes.
.
Just let me know if you need any help. Regarding the boxes being geared in a certain way, they are really only for guidance, just add an addition information at the end. After all if your little person fitted the norm you wouldn't need to apply in the first place. I use DS's money for things that will help him be more independent such as going to the cinema with his friends and may be a meal before. This way he has to orginise what they are going to watch, the time they need to be there, ordering and paying for a meal. These are all things that people take for granted but they are skills we all need to learn. I'm then hoping to progress to him getting the bus on his own to the cinema, I'm not sure I will get to the point of allowing him to get the bus home. He is sixteen but has a statement of educational needs.Total debt Feb 2012 = £54354.11 😳

Thanks ROTE, it went in the post this morning, so fingers crossed (although I'm expecting to have to appeal).
It's a long day, bucketing rain, no pram to take Grace for a walk this morning when it was nice, her swing needs the batteries replacing (but she won't let me put her down to do it), her mobile on the cot needs the batteries replacing (which died last night and without a pram I can't get out to get more) ... on the plus side it means I've had hugs for about 5 hours today as it's the only place she's happy. Wondering if she's teething, she keeps putting the teet to the left side of her mouth and her feeding volumes are way down.
Trying something new today. 2 hour rules. 2 hours a day is spent cleaning, when that's up, anything left is left until tomorrow. This then frees up 2 hours of 'office time' ie trying to make things to craft and sell. The remaining 4 or 5 hours while NIM is out is basically Grace's time, feeding, washing, cuddling and playing. I like that time best.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
