Great news about the double maternity pay Kavics, will come in very handy! Hope you're all ready for your little girl's arrival and you're doing OK. ((big squishy hugs)) :)

Wow, can't believe how much that rent is Poolie! Another reason why I don't want to leave Yorkshire! :)

I'm poorly today with sore throat, aching head, feeling really tired etc :( Oddly everyone sitting around me at work has the same thing so we've been dubbed the 'feeling-sorry-for-themselves-corner'. :o Have to play badminton today in a challenge match (we've started a singles ladder, everyone's name is on a certain rung and you challenge players above you to take their place and the lady below me has challenged and so I really don't want to lose my spot!). I'm going to play terribly and lose I just know it :( Oh well, if I lose I'll just challenge her when I'm feeling better and show her how good I really am! ;)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Lol I was just thinking that was really reasonable - you pay that for a 2 bed flat in our town near the centre. It looks nice and smart Poolie, although whoever decided to match the countertops with the cupboards was blind.

We pay £765 for our 2 bed flat (in a not so lovely town!) so I wasn't thinking that was too bad either :o

  • I rent out my old house which is a three bedroomed forcourted semi with a large back garden for 525 pm. We have it on a mortgage but the bit extra I use to help towards the mortgage of the new house.

That is about the average for a 2 bed in the area.

Wish we could rent for that round here! There's a big difference here though in rents and mortgages. That's why OH and I are thinking of buying before we go travelling - we could get a mortgage on a 3 bed house for around £600 a month and then could rent it out for approx 1K a month.

Where is your house ROTE? I think it's very dependant on area, I know some places around here you could do that, but nowhere in our little town.

Completely paranoid today, I clearly have a very pathetic bug - nose a little blocked, sinus pain when I bend over, sore throat, ear ache.... all things normally I'd probably not notice, but I'm terrified of giving it to Grace as she'd get it a lot worse than me, so I'm mostly refusing to touch her today. Which is challenging since no one else is here to do little things like feed or change her.

Don't quite know how to balance the accounts this month until mum passes over my inheritance and what she owes me. Until then we basically have no money. I haven't done anything on the blog as we have nothing in the fridge to cook - we're basically living off whatever random concoctions we have in the freezer and cupboards, nothing gourmet. Although I've just looked at the blog and I messed up big time with scheduling two posts and forgetting to finish them, ooops! Will have to go back and do that.

  • I'm in Cumbria but 550/600 is the average. We rent ours privately to someone that we know so thats why I reduce the rent. The property is now OH pension as he didnt have one when running his own business.

You know you work in the food industry when you click on Poolies link and your first thought is "Ooh that's where Waitrose's head office is!." Hope you like the place, it looks nice, and that you feel better soon.

I decided to get a doctor appointment today, first one since moving here, as my sore throat is not shifting and now seems rather tonsillitisy and I pulled a muscle over a month ago which is not at all better. They can't see me for THREE AND A HALF WEEKS! How bad is that. At least rents are cheap here as everything else is rubbish!

When do you think your inheritance will come through Dinah? Sorry things are tight at the minute :( Fingers crossed Grace stays cold free.

ETA: As this is all about the money after all! I cleared my overdraft today :) For the third time, best be the final one too! Now to save for a house deposit! Just an Argos card to pay off now, which is 0%. We could do it now but realised we've never paid a water bill in this house so are expecting some arrears booo.
