Grace is home again. Discharge note states the cause as a suspected viral infection, but if she had one it was mild and she never had a fever or anything. I have quite bad earache today, so it's possible she had something similar, although she was very good natured about it if she did. She's come home off oxygen half time too - on oxygen overnight, but off for 12 hours during the day. It's a fantastic step.

She is also 6 months old today - I can't believe that, it has not only flown by, but surely can't be that short, as I can't remember life before her.

Tried to get my parents a champagne afternoon tea at the place where they got married... but the damned people never answer the phone. How they run a hotel if they are completely uncontactable is anyone's guess. Grace made them a card too with a little handprint on, and to be honest I don't think they cared what our card said or what we gave them after that.

Are you on my FB already Flower? I'm afraid I keep getting confused who is who with real names vs usernames!

I'm glad it's not just me blubbing at some of those pics. I've become such a soft spot since having Grace, anything with the parent-child relationship in and I'm liable to start blubbing.

Look on the bright side Cinny, 2 jobs means 2 lots of maternity pay when MiniCin comes along. my bog standard maternity pay this month was £599 - so you'd be on nearly £1200 which isn't half bad! Although they !!!!ed about with my pay and took tax off, did some daft sick pay thing, took my car loan off, added a bit back on... it was a joke.

NIM off to London tonight for an interview, so I've cleaned the house and played with Grace most of today, and I'll try to get on some money making this evening when she goes down for her usual long nap.

Fantastic news about Grace going down to 12hrs on oxygen! :T Go Grace! Can't believe she's 6 months old! Where does the time go?!

Would you get 2 lots of maternity pay Cinny? Not sure how it's worked out, but seems a bit unlikely that 2 companies would pay the full SMP without Mr Tax Man getting involved and nicking it off you, great if that happens though! :)

Thanks for the add Flower :)

Exciting stuff about NIM having an interview! Good luck! :)

I know, it's an unusual rule, but we seriously considered me taking a second job to get a second lot of maternity pay. Unfortunately you can't get a second lot if your second job is in a self employed capacity. Technically you are on leave from both of them. I don't know if you're supposed to pay tax on SMP, but you definitely get 2 lots if you work 2 jobs and would qualify for it in each one.

You should have said he was coming down and PMd me his number as I would have met up with him for a swift half a lemonade (would be stronger except for the tablets!)

That's true , I am going to get 2 (1 starting from 1st oct, 2nd starting from 9th nov, you can start mat leave earlier from one job, don't need to start at the same time), i will get around £1080 a month which is a reasonable amount. You just need to make sure that you qualify for maternity pay from both jobs (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Expectingorbringingupchildren/DG_175884).

He doesn't get in until after 11 given the flooding delays... at which point he still has to get over to Crystal Palace to stay at my cousin's. If he gets the job though he'll be down several times a month, so plenty of chance to catch up.

It's a little alarming my wages are now so insignificant that I didn't even realise I'd had a payday. Usually I do a big money shuffle but this month it's more of a quizzical look at where money should be.

I heard about Darlington to York being flooded. Crystal Palace is not that far away from me at the moment. Shame he won't have time for a while half this visit. If he does get it, I would certainly meet him for a few jars of the black stuff.

Off seeing another place to live tomorrow. Saw one yesterday but there was something about it that didn't feel right so left it. Tomorrow's http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-39415748.html

Cinny - love your sisters dress. It is really pretty.
