Hope everyone enjoyed the Olympic opening ceremony last night, I thought it was brilliant! Odd, but great! :D OH can't hack 'late' nights though, he's so grumpy and tired as I refused to go to bed before the end!

My Dad's a star, I put in about 5-6 hours work for him yesterday and he paid me £50 for it which certainly helps to take the edge off my painful skintness! Mum also gave me £30 that she owes me so feeling much better about my immediate cash flow problems... will still be a tough month but at least I have some money now. Just have to think of things to do all weekend that cost no money! :) It doesn't help that my friend has just sent me a text informing me that McFly are at York Racecourse today and I think she wants me to suggest that we go! Must resist! :p

Is the hen do an over night thing? If so I can understand your reluctance to leave Grace (not that I'm implying in any way that she wouldn't be in the best hands NIM or that you shouldn't go Dinah) but if not I think a few hours break would be great for you and you definitely deserve it.

I don't think I have told you all yet, but I had an interview on Monday for a new job and I got it! Yay! Its still at the Uni but a different department and slightly more money and most importantly its permanent, which is a massive relief. I met with my new manager for coffee today and she's lovely, I also saw my new office which I get all to myself :) It has a window and a plant so I'm happy! (I probably should mention that I was the only person they interviewed, but still... default is fine! I love default!)

Big well done on the job, is it doing a similar thing to what you do now? Sorry for slow reply, started to write one on my phone but then it said no signal when I tried to post.

It's not an overnight thing for anyone local, it's a day at the races and then caterers are coming to her sister's house to do a themed meal and cocktails on the evening. But they live in London, so realistically we'd need to stay over and come back the next day.

NIM has gone to Grace this morning, and I don't know if it's that I'm not with her, or just that I have time to think about things, or that a dress for granddads funeral arrived in the post (and I think I'm too big for it) but I'm feel overwhelmingly sad today. I feel like a weight in pressing me down and I can't move, let alone do anything that needs doing. She's doing well though, hopefully home on Monday. When she was home she was on 0.3 litres of oxygen a minute, that is now down to 0.08 litres, so she's actually made a lot of progress and is in a better place than she was when they discharged her last time.

Moneywise I have no clue at all. I think we might be short this month as it was NIMs paternity pay month, but also we might be okay as we finished last month with over £300 left. But we STILL probably won't have enough to fix the blasted fence. I'll do the numbers in the next few days once NIMs pay arrives.

I have been better about overspending recently. I go to buy something and make a rule to leave it 5 mins and come back and see if I still HAVE to have it, it's rare I do. I do tend to comfort shop when I'm feeling down, so it's good I've managed to avoid it. I just look and think 'Gracie needs you home, and you can only do that if you clear the debt'. This has extended as far as food shopping too, but I may have to buy some soon as our fridge contains no fruit, some mushrooms, a couple of slightly elderly looking peppers, several jars of jam/margarine, several bottles of wine/beer/flavoured water for when company come over, diet coke and some defrosted pork mince. Healthy, balanced and appetising it is not. We don't even have milk so when mum and dad came over this morning on their way home they couldn't have a cuppa. I feel like an anti-domestic goddess today, my house is a tip, I'm wearing NIMs joggers, and somehow I need to pull myself into a socially acceptable state before this evening because we have to go to his friend's dads birthday party (who is having a big number birthday, and has asked for charity donations in lieu of gifts, which normally makes me a bit uncomfortable in case people judge you for what you put in the bucket, but today makes me happy as he's decided to give all the donations to Grace's unit).

Feeling a bit less sad, I have a fantastic husband. Came back from seeing Grace with a bunch of flowers, two of my favourite bars of chocolate, and a big tub of the new Ben & Jerry's.

In a bit of limbo, Grace may have to go back to children's ward today. She's not critical in any way now, so it's good they might get to know her down there, but I like her being where they already know her and we know them. The reason she may have to move is there are two mums currently labouring, one of 26 week twins and one of 32 week twins, if they can't be stopped and both deliver they need the space.

Aw that so sweet of NIM. Glad you're feeling a bit better :)

Gosh 26 week old twins, was Grace 28 weeks? And she was on her own, imagine 2 tiny ones - parents must be so frightened :( Hopefully you can build up a great relationship with the new ward.
Glad things are going well moneywise, did NIM get to deley his paternity leave until Grace came home?

Just picked up a parcel from the post office and it was some lovely decorative house warming bits from my godmother, very sweet of them :)

Yep, you can take paternity within 8 weeks of the baby being born, or 8 weeks of the due date, so in our case there was actually a gap where he couldn't have taken it, but it all worked out in the end.

Aye Grace was 28 weeks, the baby next to her was 24 weeks and didn't even weigh 1lb.

    That's nice of your godmother.

Glad NIM managed to cheer you up. You are bound to have times when you are feeling down, you have been through a lot recently.

Sounds like Grace is doing great, sounds really promising. That must be hard if she gets moved but means they think she doesn't need to be there.

I enjoyed the ceremony last night. Managed to stay awake till the end somehow! OH fell asleep but he did leave for work at 5 am yesterday.

So sorry to hear about your Grandad, Dinah. Hope you, NIM and all your family are holding up the best you can right now.

Any more progress on Grace coming home today? :) Watching other parents starting to go through what you went through must be heartbreaking, sounds like NIM is taking great care of you both though. Good ol'NIM! :D

I loved the opening ceremony. Managed it from start till finish with Geordie Shore for afters :D My Sister's friend is over from California so I invited her over to watch it with us, and even though she went "It's ABRAHAM!" when Brunel came out at the start, it was so much fun! My favourite part was the childhood nightmares, it was amazing.

She's home :D:D:D A second and third set of twins were born over the weekend so they needed the room. She's home on a lot less oxygen than she was when she came home 3 weeks ago, her consultant expects her to go back up to the original amount, but I'm still very pleased for her doing so well.

I am completely obsessed with taking Grace's temperature since she got home, I'm terrified of her being too cold or too hot. Unfortunately my two thermometers are giving very different readings - one says she's 34.8C and the other 36.6C, this is not helping my panic over keeping her healthy.

I'm so glad she's home Dinah. I do hope the twins are all okay though.

I know it's hard Dinah but try not to obsess too much. Leave off taking her temperature for a while and maybe try again in an hour and see what reading it gives you then. Pick one thermometer and stick to that one so you know you are getting a constant reading.

Enjoy having Grace back home x

So glad she's home again now. Different thermometers can give different readings (and you can have different temperatures in both ears)! There's so much that can affect it so I would wait a while between each reading.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Watched a lot of the Olympics on out new TV! OH got his bonus through on Friday and was chomping at the bit when I got home from work to go and have a look. Have to say I'm quite pleased he talked me round to getting it actually. Still got some money left over so it will go towards the sofa fund me thinks.
