The more you tell me about these two Birdie the more deranged they sound! They just don't seem to have any social skills at all.

I know, I always thought I was lacking in social skills (I blame the ASD! ;)) but my skills are positively polished in comparison to these guys! His Mum did say that he's never been the type to even say thank you for anything his parents do for him (which is odd as his brother isn't like that at all) but we're all surprised that he's found someone who just makes this bad trait worse rather than better! I told OH to have a word since he's his best friend and he needs to hear it from someone close but he's too scared! :p I told OH that he's lucky he's not overweight or he'd have been sent a diet plan for the wedding too! ;) Is it wrong that I really want a baby in time for their wedding next May just so I can bring it along to annoy her?! :rotfl:

Anyhoo... happy Friday! :j Has anyone got nice plans for the weekend?

Does Dinah know you have started handing Grace round?

We should really clear the man cave as this washing the baby's head party went on for way to long - the whole month!

If we clear it we can get more beer and meat.

Was thinking about it but the salary is not competitive enough. Exchange rate of bananas to the Pound is shot to pieces in this economy.

Don't they just?! It's so outrageous it's funny. Maybe not if you know them though, Birdie! Not surprised your OH doesn't fancy confronting them, but they probably so deluded they wouldn't get it anyway. You could mention you refer to them as

"the tight ones who luckily don't visit often" - might sink in:rotfl:

My hen do is in London - going 50s style for cocktails, Lucky Voice and American diner for dinner :D But my petticoat hasn't arrived yet, so my dress won't be super poofy! It was supposed to have been sent on Saturday - rubbish!

Dinah, that's so nice of you to bake for the hospital staff - especially if it bags you amazing service :D I bet you can't wait until you have your hands full with Grace at home and you're too busy to bake :)

But if you have a mo to post the chocolate raspberry brownie recipe - sounds amazing!

    Hehe, deal NIM! :D

Your hen sounds brilliant Poddle! Want to see pictures! :D What a shame about your petticoat not arriving though, it's fairly easy to muddle one up if you have to though. Get some pretty coloured net and some wide ribbon, tack the net along the ribbon (or if you really don't want to sew, use safety pins!) and tie the ribbon around your waist- et voila, instant !!!!!!! :D

I have been faced with a minor MSE dilemma. Last night I went along to a badminton club that's apparently open to all abilities... but everyone there had been playing for years and were extremely good and quite frankly they were just taking the pee when they were up against me, smashing every shot past me despite knowing that I'm a beginner so I decided that it wasn't for me and won't be going back. I don't play to win per se... but I don't play to be thrashed either, where's the fun in that?! :o About an hour into the session I was playing doubles with a guy who decided that he wanted to be all over the court and wasn't interested in letting me get a single hit in and the one time the shuttle was actually coming near me and I stepped back to hit it he jumped behind me then walloped me on the back of my head with his racket and kind of punched the handle into my back. Ow! Many times ow! :( I left shortly after that (45 minutes before the end) as I was really teary and fed up.

Talking to my colleague this morning, who told me to go in the first place, he said that after I left they all felt really bad by a) the unfair and repeated beating I got and b) the smacked head and they've said that if I go back I'll not have to pay and they'll make an effort to match me with players who'll go a little easier on me. Now I don't know if I should sack it off and make my displeasure known by refusing to return and turn down the free session (it's only £4, but it's the principle and I feel like they owe me!) or do I give them a chance to learn from the disaster of last night and go along for my freebie?!

Do you want to learn to play / have any interest in going back?
If yes than do it if not then don't bother.

Ha! I love how boys are so rational - NIM, you're right, of course...

But Birdie, that's horrid! That's exactly what puts me off trying new things and team sports! I personally would probably have a bit of a sulk and make that clear by not going back to their stupid club. But, as NIM says, if you're enjoying the badminton and want to improve, then chin up and accept their offer. they'll respect you for it! (or find a different club...)

Thanks for the petticoat tip - I might have to botch something together! I'm the hen and dammit, I want !!!!!!!

So you should! Further tip, get more than you need to fit around your waist and pleat it a bit for more body, and the net will be quite wide so fold it in half (or a 1:3 ratio if you need it longer) so you have a double layer :)

I play badminton with work on Thursday lunchtimes and it's a fair mix of good players and beginners so the pace is slower and I'm quite happy with that TBH, just thought I'd go along to the club for a bit more game time and I thought there'd be some coaching, but there isn't. It's not on next week so I've got 2 weeks to decide (and to recover my bruised pride!) :)
