I've booked into the nearest blood donor session, it's not until the 10th May but I feel happy that I've shown willing!
I'm a little concerned that it's the day before we fly to Spain but the chap I spoke to seemed to think I'd be fine... just hope I don't have a massive ugly bruise!
I have managed to avoid ugly bruises by making you I have drunk enough water before going near the donation centre, keep moving my hand while they take the blood and the resting bit after I usually have to do things so arm doesn't get a chance. Oh and a double helping of biscuits and chocolate bars help. Liquid is the key though - I usually drink a good 2/3litres of water beforehand.0 -
I'll try that tip Poolie, thanks!
Hope you can get your appointments rebooked soon Ruby, hope your problems aren't too serious/worryingOvercome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I'm fairly certain she's O Pos, I'm trying to get someone to tell me what her blood group is but they keep skirting the issue.
They probably don't want you to freak out if you see her being transfused a different group from her own - babies are transfused based on their mum's blood as much as their own for the first 4 months anyway, so rather than risk parents worrying about it when their little ones are getting group O (which very nearly all baby transfusion packs are anyway) when they are a group A, they probably just try and not mention it instead!

Ooh ^^ that's interesting Ruby. I can imagine (some) parents freaking out like that, thinking they know better than the docs - must be a hard job to do sometimes.
So nice to see everyone signing up to donate! Gonna see if I can get in soon as I'm doing a 10k in Dublin on 4 June so need to be recovered in time for that - someone told me it can take a few weeks (!) before you're back to normal running-wise. Re. the water, the last few times I've been they've made everyone drink a pint of water before starting - so I always need a wee while I'm lying there on the bed
How is Little Gracie doing today?clearmydebts wrote: »Tete - I also booked New York with the girls this October. Can't wait! We have no hotel yet and love the look of yours but there is only 3 of us so would work out expensive. Who did you book the hotel with? I was a bit wobbly about leaving Evie for 4 nights but its just she is so young now I couldn't leave her, but at 13 months she will be walking, or at least crawling so will be more hardy.
Eek so exciting! We HAVE to meet for a cocktail if we're there at the same time! (25th-29th - you?) Ahh three is a difficult number alright! When we were looking I saw a few places that have one double bed in the room plus a sofa bed - this may be cheaper than 2 double rooms or a 2-bed room like ours? We booked through Expedia and didn't have to search about too much actually - we just looked at the highest rated hotels in the area we wanted on Trip Advisor and once we decided on all staying in one room that narrowed it down a lot.
Poddle it was fairly MSE as far as NY hotels go I believe, came to under £240 each for 4 nights. Flights were expensive at £517 (Sooo much more than when I was looking at them with the ex a couple of years ago) but the times are such that we have almost five full days there which is ace. Also, one for the girls I'm going with is leaving her 20-month old daughter at home so all is not lost re. your friends. Although everyone is different - I can't imagine another friend leaving her four year old to go on hols with the girls.I love The Sage Tete, it's gorgeous outside and in! Great acoustics too and there's not a bad seat in the house
Eek, thanks - good to know as we got the last two tix so are up in the gods somewhere! I can't wait to see the inside, have heard great things about the acoustics tooExciting!
Right, hopefully my cam battery has charged, trying to get some ebaying done today (free listing :money:) Happy Sunday all!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
The trips to New York sound great, Tete & CMD! Your hotel does look immense Tete, sounds like it is pretty MSE still for NY!
Hope Grace is showing some improvement! And hoping everything's okay with your Nan, Ruby.
Having a not so thrifty weekendWe've booked my parents a weekend trip to Dublin for my Mum's 50th, they're staying in this hotel. I'm excited to tell them already, but need to keep quiet for the next 6 months

Morning,
Hope all is ok with little Grace.
CMD - I would feel much better about leaving Poppy now than i would have when she was younger so i am sure it will feel easier at the time. Exciting for your new york trip!
Tete - that does sound like a good deal for the hotel, think ours was more than that a few years ago and wasn't as swish!
Cinny - bet your Mum will love the trip, really thoughtful of you!
We have had a nice weekend, went to a 1st birthday yesterday in a nice childrens cafe where we had tea and cake yum (well i had tea). Looking forward to my week off work.0 -
Ruby, oh resident blood God, can you answer a question please? If two parents are the same blood group will the baby automatically be that group or can it be something completely random?
Grace is apparently doing well today - NIM went for her morning rounds as I'm going to be there 12 hours both tomorrow and Tuesday by the look of it, so him and mum have been encouraging me to take it a bit easier when I can. She's being taken off the cpap today so will just be on low flow oxygen I think. She's also gained another oz. They're running another blood test tomorrow to check everything is as okay as it appears. Excited to be seeing her in an hour.

Brilliant news that Garce has put some weight on! Really glad to hear that she is doing well.
Your mum and NIM are right, you need to try and rest inbetween visiting Grace. How is your blood pressure now? Hope its going back down.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0
