Funniest thing is that his Mum is OH's second Mum, we're all very close and she's not keen on the GF and it is so easy to get her to have a good moan about them, it's got to be bad when your Mum doesn't like the woman you're marrying! :o

    Ahem...forgetting something Birdie?

Morning all (just) Glad your aunt had a good send off Tete, and so nice that so many people took the time to say goodbye, she sounds like a very special lady.

Birdie, your friends sound dreadful! They clearly aren't picking up on the hints so I think direct is the only option (maybe not quite as direct as NIM, although I agree it would be worth seeing!) Smugfest 2013 could well have some comedy value though?

My weekend felt longer than 4 days in some ways, and I'm struggling to get myself back on the work bandwaggon! Didn't do anything terribly exciting though, car boot with Mum on Sunday and lunch with some friends on Monday. Luckily I have Friday off this week too or I'm not sure I'd make it!

LOL, sorry! :p But yours is a special case... and I'm sure your Mum would dislike any girl 'stealing' her boy away from home, it's nothing to do with Dinah on a personal level really! :) What'd she make of Grace anyway? Did she fall head over heels and turn into a soft hearted granny, knitting booties and bobble hats? :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Her Nosocomephobia (fear of hospitals) was acting up from the start, she went to pieces when she saw how tiny Grace is and had to leave less than 10 minutes after we got there...but she was a lot better than she could have been.

Mind you she's gushing about her all the time now.

Tete - glad the funeral went as well as it could and can understand you being relieved its over. Your hotel looks amazing in New York, will be so much fun!

Birdie - that guy and his fiance sound a nightmare. I hate it when people just assume you can afford things. I thin NIM has given you some great advise lol. I know how you feel being poor, seem to keep finding things i need to buy and running out very quick.

Cinny - not long till holiday...exciting! Bless little Ryder. It is definately true about the dad's being more exciting. OH picks Poppy up from nursery most days and he whizzes her round on her bike when they get home so yesterday i picked her up, when we got home and she went off and got on her bike and looked at me to push her lol.

I am off for just over a week after tomorrow yay.

Hi everyone, little bit of an update on my nan; there's no lasting damage to her eye but her memory has declined quite rapidly. Absolutely fuming with the hospital because they haven't listened to a thing we've said. Told them that she needs a carer to come in the morning to make sure she has a wash and takes her tablets. But they are adament that she's fine. Yesterday (Weds) was the first day I haven't been up there to wash her and she clearly hadn't had a wash even though the staff said she had washed and dressed herself. She had only had one cup of tea up till 2pm and hasn't been to the toilet (you know, no. 2) since she was admitted 6 days ago. I was just given a number of her social worker (didn't even know she had a sw) to call in the morning because they want to discharge her today (thurs). In my mind she's not ready to go home, she needs a care package. I explained to them that I've been going there and washing her on my days off but to be honest I can't carry on doing it. Not because I have better things to do but I do it every day at work and I need a break sometimes. She got really upset when we left and very agitated (kept trying to hit my mum because she was "abandoning" her) and my mum has never seen her like that before. Now my mum is worried about what to do and stressing out and asking me to sort it all while my dad has a go at my mum for getting stressed and worrying. I don't know what to do. If I could take a week off work just to make sure we get everything sorted I would but my manager isn't here to authorise it at the moment. I can see me turning into one of those relatives that I hate, who shout and scream to get what they want but I just feel like no one is listening. Frankly I think she needs to go into a residential home but no on wants to make that decision and I know that she would get so upset about it because she hasn't completely lost her mind yet.

Sorry for the long ramble, I just needed to get it all out there somewhere.

Dinah and Nim im a long time lurker on your threads and just wanted to say congratulations on your beautiful baby girl.
I too had pre-eclampsia was rushed into hospital after a routine midwife appointment and had a tiny baby 4hrs afterwards. She was 27 weeks 6days and 1lb 13oz so tiny. But like Grace a absolute fighter. I totally know what you're going through Dinah with the crying your hormones will be everywhere i couldn't help crying when anyone asked me about my little one. Anyway this tiny baby has grown and is now a very independent nearly two year old who is very healthy (albeit a bit small) and running rings round us all.

PM me is you'd like a chat about anything (and get some big pants!!!!! you don't want to rub the scar)

Ruby I know where you are coming from. It sounds like you Work in the same sector as me. It can be hard to separate home and work life as hey are so similar. I know you said you hate relatives who shout and scream but sometimes it's the only way to get things done. Speak to the SW and state your points concisely and professionally as you would one of your clients. Hope something is sorted for you soon x

Grace is back in the nicu. She got another pneumothorax last night and has a chest tube in again and is back on the ventilator. She's also needed a blood transfusion. They have just upped her morphine more as she was splinting and causing her sats to fall through the floor. I'm doing a better job of staying calm than usual.
